Hi. I am new to mumsnet so please bare with me!
I am currently 10 weeks pregnant with my first and wondering is it normal to be this big?
I am already in maternity wear and finding it hard to hide! i know it must be water weight etc im trying to stay away from google so thought i would ask if anyone is similar?

Yes, a bump from 6 wks and look about 6mths now at least, I'm 16wks. GP, midwife and sonographers seem fine about it.

I was huge with mine. I couldn't hide until 12 weeks, people had started asking at around 6 or 7 weeks so we had to announce it at 8 weeks just to stop the nasty comments about being fat etc.

If it helps my DD was tiny at 6lbs 4 oz despite my belly measuring at least a 10lb baby. They were so concerned I had extra scans and an obstetrician at my birth. I had to have an ultrasound just after birth to confirm there wasn't another baby in there. The midwife commented I had at least twice the normal amount of water in there. This was 20+ years ago though. They should be far more accurate now with the number of babies and size etc. Grin

I was big from the off in both my pregnancies. Lots of bloating in both first trimesters, and I had so much water with my son that, after a 20 hour labour, I was still losing my waters as I gave birth! Currently expecting DD and I look ready to drop despite having another 7-8 weeks to go.

I think sometimes there is pressure, whether it comes from ourselves or from other people, to have a "perfect, neat bump" but my body just isn't built that way - and as long as DD is healthy, I don't care.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I was more bloated by this time didn't have a bump until around 18 weeks

Thank you ladies! Im glad im not the only one! it doesnt help that i have always been petite so when i told certain family members they said the same - you will carry small, you wont notice etc etc... within 4 weeks i was extremely bloated and now its 'oh you must be alot further along' sorry going into abit of a rant lol. But like you said i dont care aslong as the baby is healthy! x
