Morning sickness - was it different with subsequent pregnancies??

Ok - so my new 'thing on my mind' is the fact that this time round I am not as violently as sick as I was with ds. By this point, I was vomitting my guts up. Help me unravel my train of thought where I am convincing myself that there must be soemthing wrong if I am not vomitting for england.....

boy/girl difference? I was more sick with my 2 girls than with ds. This time I have been sick alot less - perhaps I'm having a boy?? I'll let you know!

coppertop · 14/07/2004 08:15

First pregnancy - felt sick all day and thought I was doing well if I only threw up 4 times in one day.

Second pregnancy - felt a bit queasy for a while but only threw up once during the entire pregnancy.

Both times I had a boy.

This subject has always fascinated me. I did not suffer with DS1 and this time I just had a week of nausea, but no actual sickness, right at the beginning. I am having another boy. I would say amongst my friends and colleagues those pregnant with girls are a lot more sick/nauseous.

Blackduck · 14/07/2004 08:41

No persoanl experience, but a friend who has two boys sailed through first pregnancy without so much as feeling vaguely ill, and with number two, as she put it, 'couldn't believe she could be that ill and not be dying'! So that blows the boy/girl theory.....
Colleague at work who had a girl was sooooooooo ill we all knew she was pregnant from day one!

poppyseed · 14/07/2004 10:47

This hairy baby stuff I find fascinating - will go and inspect DD and DS immediately.......

huppa · 14/07/2004 10:54

Felt horribly nauseous with dd, this time expecting a ds and have had no nauseous/sickness at all.

busybee123 · 14/07/2004 10:59

i never suffered physical sickness with any of my 3. I felt worse with dd though than i did with ds1 and 2. With the ds's I had more problems though like low blood presssure and anaemia. I 'knew' with dd and ds2 what sex they were by how bad i felt.

webmum · 14/07/2004 11:01

mild sickness with both

Flouncetta · 14/07/2004 11:05

Physically sick with ds1 from 8-16 weeks esp first thing in morning then nauseous the rest of the time. With ds2 nauseous all the time but not actually sick as often.
Bad indegestion /heartburn with both pregnancies, esp near end. Lived on Gaviscon and Magnum ice creams (it was summer!)
Both boys had very little hair at birth.

Angeliz · 14/07/2004 11:44

poppyseed, dd was SO hairy, jte black hair on her head (full head of hair, the midwives told me before she was out!!!!) and back, it's mostly gone from her back but she's still fluffy at the top

Popsy, hope you're well>

bundle · 14/07/2004 11:48

similar to Motherinferior (my mumsnet twin ), had girls both times but sicker with 1st one and felt less affected overall 2nd time round.

popsycal · 14/07/2004 20:09

I can't get it out of my brain today - had a BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD and busy day at work!

I must relax and stop worrying!!

Does anyone know when morning sickness starts? I've just found out I'm pg with number 3. Was horribly sick with both dds, but feeling fine this time (so far - bet I'll be puking this time next week for saying that).

PreggieMum · 16/07/2004 13:16

Congratulations Babster! When are you due?

Morning sickness started at around 6/7 weeks last pregnancy. This time it started at 4 weeks.

tamum · 16/07/2004 13:18

Popsycal, I'm sure you're alright. When will you have a scan? Try not to worry. xxx

Angeliz · 16/07/2004 13:28

Popsy, i'm sure you'll be fine. Honest with dd i was FINE, the midwise even told me to keep quiet in the waiting rooma bout how well i was

I'm finding the second time round lots more worrying! I think it's because you KNOW so much more after reading up for the first one!

popsycal · 16/07/2004 19:36

i have first midwife appt on tuesday morning - she is coming to the house. Hmmm - means a tidying spree is in order.

I have felt queasy but hardly vomitted. My body 'feels' pregnant though. I am exhausted!

BUT I AM ON HOLIDAY FOR 6 AND A HALF WEEKS NOW!! HURRAH!

motherinferior · 18/07/2004 22:48

No, same with me. With dd1 I felt violently and continuously nauseous. With dd2 I'd have the odd wave of pukiness and then go back to normal.

pollyanna · 18/07/2004 22:52

My morning sickness has been different in all 4 of my pregnancies. It's varied from being sick all the time, to being nauseous all the time, to just being nauseous in the evenings. the number of weeks of sickness has also varied in each case.

popsycal · 18/07/2004 22:53

that is how i am MI, but i have been a little bit sick....
I remember cooking xmas dinner at 6 weeks preg and no one knew and i vomitted 4 times whilst cooking and had to leave the table between courses to be sick
nice

and does anyone have a girl/boy theory?!!?

tamum · 18/07/2004 22:57

I was bad with ds (1st), none at all (and I mean none) with 2nd (miscarried), by far the worst with dd (3rd). Make of that what you will

misdee · 18/07/2004 23:14

very bad with dd1+2, this time has started a bit later but is just as bad.

lydialemon · 19/07/2004 00:15

Mildly sick, but bled on and off with DSs, but horribly horribly sick with DD - went off dairy and meat, and 8 mths later I STILL can't drink tea (and I really want one!).
