Was just laid on the bed when I breathed in and got an excruciating sharp sudden pain lasting a few seconds in the left side of my rib cage in my back? It really hurt and happened again when I sat up and breathed in again. 32 weeks pregnant

Has it stopped now? If it continues go and get seen immediately.

Yes it just happened the twice. What could it be?

Pleuritic pain happens when you breathe in. Is it only when you inhale?

Princey675 · 09/09/2017 01:15

Yes I think so might've been whilst I was moving too, it was really low in the back of my ribs and was awfulHmm quite worrying.

Well if you're in any doubt get yourself seen straight away.

Please get it checked out pain under the rib cage on the left side can be a warning sign of preeclampsia, it could also be normal! Always phone and double check!

Not to frighten you OP but get to an A&E or at the very least on the phone to urgent medical assistance ASAP. Pain when you breathe could be a pulmunary embolism (blood clot in your lung). Pregnancy greatly increases your risk of developing clots and they can be fatal very quickly.

Fingers crossed it is something different and isn't anything near as serious but don't mess around AT ALL with any possible PE. Please seek medical assistance right away.
