Hi,
I'm not sure whether i'm supposed to post this in sex or pregnancy but the website won't allow me to post in sex. Lastnight me & my boyfriend had sex, when i went to the toilet and wiped it was pink, quite a bit of it too no pain. I'm about 6 weeks, is this something to worry about?

I had this in early pregnancy too (am now 31 weeks) I told my midwife and she said it was some light cervical bleeding that sometimes happens after sex. She told me not to worry too much unless the bleeding got heavier or there was any pain. Contact your midwife if you are worried though :)

I am abit worried because we've had sex before since I've been pregnant and that didn't happen. I have my first midwife appointment tomorrow i don't know whether to wait for that or phone today

I had this and I was 20 weeks and I had my scan the same day, baby was absolutely fine. I called up hospital and she said that it's quite common.

Kittykat93 · 08/09/2017 14:09

I would wait until tomorrow, it only happened with me a couple of times but they weren't worried at all. Obviously though it's up to you and if a quick phone call would put your mind at rest then don't hesitate, better safe than sorry

Thank you ladies, just hope this doesn't happen every time as it really scared me lastnight! Good news is its gone now. I'm definitely going to mention it to the midwife tomorrow.

Will be from your cervix. Really common. Wouldn't worry about it

So told the midwife & she said its not normal and to let them know if it happens again.

I agree with @AnUtterIDiot I had the same bleeding like I said at 20 weeks the first thing my midwife asked was if I had sex recently.

Hopeful2102 · 09/09/2017 19:41

Not sure what to think now, hopefully it doesn't happen again

Why don't you call up again speak to someone one else and see what they say? It is very common to bleed after sex, something to do with the cervix. I understand your worry I was the same when it happened to me.

Lemondrop99 · 09/09/2017 20:25

I went in with some minor bleeding and the first thing they asked me was whether I'd had sex in the last 48 hrs. Lots of blood flows to the cervix during pregnancy and sex can adgitate it and cause minor bleeding. It's always better to check, but I also agree that it is quite common and often nothing to worry about.

RP23 · 09/09/2017 20:31

It's so so so likely that it is just a bit from your cervix and is totally normal so try not to worry but I'd definitely mention it to the midwife Just to ease your mind Smile

And congratulations !

I might be able to help clear up what midwife meant as I've had 2 bleeds post sex during pregnancy- one at 7 weeks (was quite heavy so had to go to EPU for a scan) and another more recently at 36 weeks. The quote that I think your midwife was trying to say which I've heard a lot is "bleeding in pregnancy is not normal, but is also very common". Does that make sense? Chances are if you've experienced no pain alongside the bleeding it'll just be your cervix being irritated as others have said 😊 Always worth telling the midwife though so they can document it and keep an eye out xx
