Sorry I can not help I've only had one and that was 25 years ago... I might be having a c sections in December if my placenta doesn't move.

N0tfinished · 08/09/2017 14:46

Not me but 2 friends did have 4 each. Both active healthy women! AFAIK the surgeon 'tidies up' the scar each time.

I have had 4 c sections and found the 4th one better than the 2nd one where I lost oa lot of blood and had to have a blood transfusion. Recovery time was the same. All good for me.

Having my 4th in December. The consultant didn't seem remotely alarmed but I am having a sterilisation while they are in there. When is yours? I've got a few friends who have had 4 or 5 and no dramas.

demirose87 · 08/09/2017 18:35

Thanks for the replies ladies. I feel a bit more reassured now that it's not so unheard of to have a fourth. I'm booked in at the end of this month and getting sterilised at the same time too. I lost a bit of extra blood last time but I didn't need a blood transfusion and I'm having a double slot booked so they can take their time with it.

I've had four with no problems, the last was probably the easiest recovery too, even though I was sterilised during the op.
Surgeon didn't bat an eyelid but said he was pleased I'd chosen to be sterilised as after four it's considered wise to do so.
You'll be fine, I was anxious too but honestly it's ok.

Having 4th section next month. 3rd was only last July. Hoping it's as straight forward as the last.

bonzo77 · 08/09/2017 21:47

My friend had a 4th after she was told at her 3rd that she really shouldn't have another. But her 3rd was still born so she did have a 4th. It was fine. It was fine, early and extra carefully (consultant). It was told very explicitly that a 5th pregnancy would be very dangerous.

I should imagine it's very individual. During my last section the surgeon (consultant) said "you'd hardly know you'd already had a cesarian". She was surprised when I said that actually it was my third. I'm pleased she'd read my notes. Not.

MissAlabamaWhitman · 08/09/2017 21:48

Oddsocks there were only fifteen months between my second and third, it was fine. Best of luck with your birth

Alyx80 · 08/09/2017 21:50

I've had four, no problems at the time or since.

Laniakea · 08/09/2017 21:52

I've had four - no complications with 2, 3 or 4, had a pph - probably related to very long labour - with number 1.

LadyPeterWimsey · 08/09/2017 22:00

I've had four, with no problems. I checked with the consultant while he was doing my third what he thought about having a fourth, and he said it would be fine.

TanginaBarrons · 09/09/2017 07:51

Btw, my consultant said that once you are cleared for accreta she doesn't really worry - she said risks are similar to a second.
