I've got bad period pains, can't sit down properly and backache. I can't remember what it was like with DS!

when is your due date? That sounds like how it started off for me. Also needed to go to the loo a lot...

scorpio1 · 03/04/2007 11:46

thats exactly how it started for me.when are you due?

belgo · 03/04/2007 11:47

Started like this with me two, on and off for two days and two nights. when are you due?

totaleclipse · 03/04/2007 11:56

you ok????

WinkyWinkola · 03/04/2007 12:02

I'm due on 12th. I don't to be a panic merchant but I've 'summoned' my mum down today from up north because I need her to look after DS should I have to go into hospital. Too early?

How long does it generally take from this stage to progress to full on?

Also, got workmen waiting to lay a wooden floor in the hall. Should I tell them to buzz off? But what if it takes days to establish labour good and proper? God, I'm so indecisive these days.

I'm not sure about all this because with DS it all happened at night. Can I drive?

dont drive,have a walk,and have something to eat.i gave birth 4 hours later !

let them lay the floor,if it gets too much tell them youre in labour-they will soon run off!

good luck

Have a warm bath. If it's braxton hicks, they will stop in the bath.

belgo · 03/04/2007 15:28

is anything happening WW?

WinkyWinkola · 04/04/2007 10:42

Grrrr. I'm SO irritated and annoyed.

Had contractions every ten mins all day yesterday. Called midwife in evening and she said I should go into hospital to be checked because of previous emergency C-section. Get into hospital around 10pm and of course they slow right down. I'm sent home again which is fine because I'd rather mooch at home than in hospital.

Today they're only every 30 mins but hurt a lot. DH at home, looking after DS (thank goodness) wasting paternity leave as my body fails to crank up the action. I really hope things start moving soon because this is just a very boring limbo.

Sigh. I should stop complaining. My first child took 36 hours of labour and then emergency C. I really don't want the same thing to happen with this one. Is this kind of labour behaviour normal?

Hi WW,
Obviously everyone is different but with dd I had exactly what you decribe and gave birth on day 3 so hopefully you will be the same.
Fingers crossed for you!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 04/04/2007 10:56

Try not to get worked up - you need to stay relaxed for labour to progress.

Rest, eat, walk, do what you need to do.

Enjoy this time with DH and DS. Have some lovely cuddles and kisses with both of them and get the love hormone flowing!

Bucketsofdynomite · 04/04/2007 11:01

I'd give it one day's go at kickstarting the whole thing while you've got people around to help if it works. The whole tweaking nipples in the bath, bouncy on-top sex, curry (not before the aerobic sex), pineapple, bit of wine maybe.

If it doesn't, send them back and take it easy until it's undeniably happening.

WinkyWinkola · 05/04/2007 18:47

NO wonder I was so irritable! Community midwife came round at 1pm to find I was 6cms dilated. I couldn't believe it because the pains were so mild.

Off to hospital we go. DD1 born at 7.15pm last night. 8lbs 7ozs. VBAC too. I'm so happy.
