Hi all xxxx so despite not being a great believer in early scans i had one today at 6 weeks 5 days preggos. My doc wanted to check it wasnt ectopic... as i had some odd pains in my side (which have now gone.. A few days ago). So its not ectopic but the the 30.7mm gestational sac contained an 'unusual' mass with two 'nubbins', neither of these nubbins have a heartbeat these words are actually used on the report!! Basically its inconclusive but has anyone else had this unusual mass description and then find all is well in the next scan? I have to go back in a week. The nurse said they were also worried about a molar pregnancy and to expect the worst next week as she said it didnt look great. I just feel frustrated as i feel its all far too early to say! Humpf

not had exactly the same but if they're saying it doesn't look good i think they generally have a good idea. Sorry.

I had an mmc my first pregnancy and they tried to let me down gently but have to rescan as a precaution.

Having said that you will probably get lots of replies from people who have had good outcomes.

sorry you are going through this.

No fetal heartbeat on my 12 week scan, I was devastated. I remember looking at the scan and thinking it didn't look very babylike in shape. No mention was made of molar until after my D&C results had come back and I had a bit of a shock phonecall asking me to see the specialist the next day. The baby had never been a baby at all but a partial molar pregnancy. I think they can pretty much guess at the shape, babies grow in a very exact way, tumors don't.

Yes, you can't try for another baby for a year. Every month I had to pee in a tube and send it off to charring cross, they need to make sure the hGc hormone is gone, if it isn't I may mean they have missed some molar cells and you're at risk from it reoccurring. In some cases you may need further treatment as they can turn cancerous. You are bound to worry, I did, I read every scary story online. Hopefully you'll be in the same category as me and will just need the hormone monitored.

Eight years ago it was btw, I had nothing since, apart from my DS. He was a much more welcome visitor, but I demanded an early scan with him to make sure.
