Weird question - baby sitting super high up?

Evening all

I'm 33+4 today and for around 10 days now my baby has felt really really high up.

I can feel regular movements which is great but holy shit the bumps wiggles etc feel like I'm being kicked in the diaphragm and the very top of my ribs.

My iron levels are fine but I can't breathe right sitting down at the end of the day. I also can't eat even a child's portion of food as i can't fit it in.

Ironically the worry was this baby would be small; he's measuring spot on. But I don't know how I'll be able to sit down and breathe over the next six weeks.

I suppose I'm just looking for a handhold in the respect that baby will "drop" and that others have felt they're gestating in their chest as opposed to lower abdomen...

Oh yes! DD is about to turn 8 and I still remember the discomfort as she seemed to tuck herself in under my ribs rather than lower down. She did drop eventually but it was really uncomfortable (at times verging on painful) and my rib cage has never quite gone back in again.

Oh god, thanks for the reply! I know it's "just pregnancy" but I'm in a much worse state this time than I was with DD at the same stage.

Basically, after 6pm I can't move. The only respite is the hour after I wake before baby shifts "up" and as of 8am I'm struggling.

In all seriousness it's massively draining my energy. I can't bend and trying to play with a toddler is just incredibly hard.

Are you sure your baby isn't breech? With dd she was right up in my abdomen, restricting my breathing and generally making me very uncomfortable, the mw said it was because she was breech (I was having scans weekly so knew).

Head down at the last scan (31w) but as I'm having a CS anyway I'm not super aware of baby's position if that makes sense?

I also think DD was sideways up to 36w then turned. I suspect this baby is sideways; it feels like I'm getting tickled from the inside out. The "lowest" position of getting booted is the other side of my belly button...imagine someone really trying to shove your belly button from the inside out?

Ow and ergh.

I was like this with ds and he was breech (both head and feet in my ribs). They said during my section that he was unusually high and had a bit of trouble easing his head out from my ribs. Pregnancy was very uncomfortable so you have my sympathies! I guess if baby is head down it should ease off when they engage and drop? Fingers crossed! Have you asked your midwife? I don't know if there'd be anything on spinning babies or similar sites about how to get a baby to shift down?! I had to try and sit upright though often ended up on my hands and knees in the evening as that seemed to make slightly more room!

This is the thing Tippety, I don't remember DD engaging per se; she was barely engaged when they tried to induce me and I ended up with a CS.

So far so good today; but now I'm back on my sofa baby magically floated back up into my ribcage about 30mins ago.

Now I need to work out what to have for my tea to avoid the inevitable discomfort...
