Sex after birth!?

So girls, how long did you take you to feel alright enough to have sex with your partners after giving birth?
Did you find it was different to before you had the baby?

OP posts:
Lozmatoz · 03/09/2017 15:45

Months. No different, except I constantly had baby on my mind.

BillywigSting · 03/09/2017 15:52

About two months. Hurt quite a bit the first few times.
And yes it's different but still good.
Still occasionally hurts (but probably because of endometriosis rather than baby, though tear scar aches a bit sometimes).

Much less sex now because a) always shattered and b)ds always around. He's nearly 4. We actually had more when he was a baby because we do it when he napped. Now he wanders in!

As soon as I stopped bleeding 😉 and had no pain. 😀

About 2 months after birth with tear. Scar felt tight and took a few times to feel relaxed enough to start enjoying. It was more of a mental hurdle than physical.

Oysterbabe · 04/09/2017 07:27

About 3 months and it felt fine, didn't hurt.

RedBlackberries · 04/09/2017 07:28

About 6 weeks after. I didn't have a vaginal birth though.

RandomMess · 04/09/2017 07:29

Less than 2 weeks after each of them, yes it was different but no it didn't hurt.

Thataintnoetchasketch · 04/09/2017 07:39

3-4 months here. I had a second degree tear and my stitches fell out prematurely and it took that time to heal. It was a bit nippy the first few times then it's been fine since.

Velvian · 04/09/2017 07:50

Different with each baby (3). With first dc midwife insisted i must have tried sex by my 6 week check, i had episiotomy & ventouse delivery after a very difficult labour. It was really unpleasant & very painful and the emotional damage can last years if you have sex too early.
With my younger dcs 4 & 6 years ago, no one mentioned sex to me & i waited probably 3 months,(I wasn't counting)as I had some nasty tears & stitches.
Are you being pressured?

mumoffour1716154 · 04/09/2017 07:57

After a week with first birth then with 3-4 days with other 3

delilabell · 04/09/2017 08:04

Nearly a year Blush due to two non sleepers, nastu tearing and severe pnd.

user1499786242 · 04/09/2017 08:05

I think it really depends on a lot of factors
Someone who has suffered a 4th degree tear isn't going to be having sex a week after
But someone who didn't have any stitches might...
personally I was traumatised by my episiotomy and genuinely thought I'd never have sex again
Waited about 3/4 months
Partner was very understanding and we built it up over a few weeks
Do it when YOU feel ready and healed
X

Lady on my ward when I had DS.... about 3 hrs (with curtains closed!!! Shock)

Me... a couple of months I think.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 04/09/2017 08:09

3 weeks with first baby and yes, it was different! Left it a few weeks longer and it had gone back to normal. 5 weeks with second baby and no different then. Don't do it until you feel totally ready. I had easy births and no stitches both times, but I have friends who waited months - it's just what works for you.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 04/09/2017 08:10

Bike Shock😱 I still felt like my arsehole had fallen out 3 hours post birth! No way I'd have been up for anyone anywhere near me!

Jellybabie3 · 04/09/2017 08:14

I was wondering this too so will be keeping an eye on this thread. Was also wondering what contraceptives to use (have always been on pill but since coming off to ttc i dont want to go back!) I guess i will know when i am ready. Currently 37 weeks so no idea what condition i will be left in!!

BoredOnMatLeave · 04/09/2017 08:24

The day before our 6 week check because obviously we couldn't just wait 12 hours for me to get the pill from the GP Blush (luckily no baby conceived). Different but not painful.

PandaCat · 04/09/2017 08:30

We tried when I stopped bleeding, it hurt though so didn't go anywhere. Tried again a week or so later, still hurt but not as much. For about a year after it was really uncomfortable, I didn't tear or anything either!

Farfromtheusual · 04/09/2017 10:03

About 3 weeks when the bleeding stopped. I had a c-section though!
