I'm looking for advice or anyone that's been in my shoes...
I've just found out that I'm pregnant (clear blue digital 3+ weeks). I had the marina coil fitted on July 18th this year. I've called nhs 111 & have an appointment at the EPU Monday morning but I'm terrified- what should I expect, will the baby be okay? Can I go on to have a healthy pregnancy & baby? Online everything points towards eptopic pregnancy or misscarriage. I'm so worried. I took a pregnancy test before having the coil fitted & it was negative, we abstained from when I made the appointment until a week after it was fitted so I'm either 8-9 weeks pregnant or anywhere between 3 & 6 weeks. Anyone been through similar & had a happy ending??

You are a LITTLE more likely to have an ectopic so beware of pain but beyond thAt..... see your gp asap and they will organise a scan.... of the coil is in the right place there is a case for removal to reduce the chance of miscarriage ... your go will explain

Yes. I got pregnant with the mirena coil in situ. My DD is now 5 and starts school next week. Hopefully the sooner you have the coil removed the better the outcome for the pregnancy. I had mine removed when i was 5 weeks and i was told it was simply a waiting game. Thankfully it turned out well. All the best.

Thanks :) scan is 9am Monday morning, just terrified of what it might reveal. Other than nausea, headaches, tender boobs & a few random aches, I feel fine, no eptopic pregnancy symptoms. I guess it's just fingers crossed until Monday

Are you sure your coil is still there? Can you feel the strings? I had a coil fitted and it actually came out around 4 months after being fitted, was painful though so you may have noticed it being rejected.

I got pregnant with the Mirena fitted, currently 32wks with #3.

I found out quite early as I had early symptoms, went to docs and coil was removed easily. Was very low apparently. Was told that if it got towards 12 weeks they would consider leaving it in and monitoring its position via scans, as removing it would be risky.

And all fine with pregnancy btw.

Good luck!

I can't feel the strings but I'm sure I would have felt it come out? Or found it? guess I'll find out on Monday. X

I could.never feel the strings either on mine tbh.

I've just had my coil replaced as my first one disappeared! Had scans etc and confirmed it wasn't in my body anymore but I've no idea where it went.

Hope you are ok Op.
