Hi all, am currently 10+3 with dc3 and am suffering badly with constipation. Have taken duphalac and oj and nothing is working. Anyone have any tips? Desperate at this stage Sad

Oh god I was so constipated when I was pregnant, it's the worst! I tried everything, liquorice, prunes. In the end it was a large punnet of cherries that helped.....good luck!

Wings13 · 02/09/2017 21:41

At this stage I will try anything so cherries it is! Smile

Lactulose.
Midwife recommended it. You can get it on prescription or over the counter. £5 for a big old bottle. Tis amazing stuff.

I've had this all through this pregnancy and I'm only 24 weeks I don't see it going away anytime soon. I've tried fresh orange, fruit, sometimes a cup of tea works for me. I feel your pain!

tinypop4 · 03/09/2017 13:47

I had it really badly born pregnancies - also recommend lactulose

I'm 10+6 and suffering too!

This is my fourth pregnancy and I haven't had it in any of the others. No advice for you OP, just my sympathies!

After 10 days (!!) I had milk of magnesia and it worked well. It's apparently safe in pregnancy as mild and not a stimulant laxative but obviously diet / natural stuff would be better. It just got to the point where I had to do something

angelopal · 03/09/2017 19:39

Lactulose got me moving.

InThisTogether · 03/09/2017 22:42

LOADS of tinned prunes 💩

Hairgician · 03/09/2017 22:48

Lactulose for Sure!!! Got a really bad dose myself first time around and was fucking awful!! Never had it before. Felt like I'd had a bowling ball stuffed in my bum. Was so desperate I got a pair of rubber gloves on and had a rummage Blush
After that I phoned the gp. Couple of doses of the lactulose sorted me out!
Once sorted, plenty water and apples pears and oranges. That helped me out.

Moanyoldcow · 03/09/2017 23:27

Lactulose and fybogel twice a day. It's bloody hell.

Moanyoldcow · 03/09/2017 23:28

Hairgician - I had to 'rummage' as well. I'm religious about my fybogel now.
