I'm 10wks and 4 days pregnant and for around the last 10 days of had a large red spot on my breast which hasn't got any better. It hurts slightly if I touch it but doesn't itch. Picture included. Anyone know what it could be or should I see anyone? Thanks

I can't offer any medical advice but I would say go and get checked by the gp xx

Cat2991 · 02/09/2017 16:33

Draw a line around it see how fast it's spreading. Have you been biten by anything?

Klouise777 · 02/09/2017 17:34

Not bitten no, it's currently around the size of a 10p coin but good idea to measure it I'll try that. I'll call my gp Monday but my surgery is the worse in the area and currently you have to wait 2 weeks for a phone appointment

Is it flaky and itchy? Does there feel like a lump? I get these on my breasts a lot. I get discoid eczema. I also had a painful ingrowing hair which was swollen and red then popped like a zit.

Klouise777 · 03/09/2017 10:13

Not flaky nor itchy just a little painful when pressed. Not suffered from eczema before either. I've had ingrowing hairs in other areas and it doesn't feel like one of those either :-(

I had a spot like that after DD was born. It turned out to be an abscess which two rounds of strong ABs couldn't shift and which had to be excised under GA when DD was about 8 weeks old.

Klouise777 · 03/09/2017 16:46

I've had abscesses in other places so I wouldn't be surprised. I can't get to dr until Thursday due to work so I may have to cut my loses and pay for the one you do online tonight so see if they can shed some light on it. Thanks all! fingers crossed

update for anyone interested or who may be in a similar situation I've been to urgent care centre and it's an abscess she said hormones could have triggered it and now I've got antibiotics for a week to clear it

Go me!

Glad you've caught in time OP. Mine was so painful I couldn't hold my baby. Hope the ABs work quickly. Flowers

When you say you have abscesses in other places, Op, do you mean you have had a number of them recently?

If you are getting them frequently, you need to get your GP or Practice Nurse or MW to do a blood sugar check and send a swab from the abscess, groin and nasal swab to rule out on going Staph Aureas infection.

Klouise777 · 03/09/2017 20:13

I've had them in other places yes, intimate areas so to speak and one was surgically removed. Always thought it's weird I'm prone to them so I will certainly be pushing to find out why

Hello, I have recently noticed a red spot directly beside my areola a little bigger than a nipple..I dont know if i am pregnant of not...is this only caused if you're pregnant??? Thanks!

narsenault · 20/07/2019 01:13

Little bigger than a nickle*

@narsenault the original thread is nearly 2 years old. You may want to start your own thread, or more usefully, visit your GP for advice. Getting medical advice from an internet forum isn't usually going to get you the most accurate diagnosis or information tbh.
