Maternity Fitness Clothes

Can anyone recommend where to get maternity gym wear? Seems to be only a few sites that I can find and the stuff is all really expensive. Has anyone had mothercare maternity clothes as they appear to have a couple of pieces of 'active wear' that are a more reasonable price?

Gap have a good online selection, not the cheapest though. I just got some size large primark tops and still managing with my regular exercise pants

It's the leggings I'm struggling with! Find I'm constantly pulling them up over 'bump' and I'm only 14 weeksConfused maybe I could just get away with going up a size!

I got some gym leggings (is that what you call them?) a size bigger than normal from Primark. Did me til about 30 weeks I think. And so comfy!

I'm 22 weeks and find if I just pull mine up good and high to sit on or over bump they stay in place! Maybe just a bigger size would help

Just ordered and received the Mothercare 'active wear' leggings myself. They feel absolutely amazing (like very very thick, opaque tights - not for you if you worry re VPL) and the bump band definitely gives me plenty of confidence it'll stay put, but I haven't tested them during exercise yet.

Ah ok-maybe I'll give the mothercare ones a go and a bigger size! Thanks ladies x

Am 27+2, btw. Up to about 16 weeks, I used my normal exercise leggings, and then switched to larger (non-maternity) shorts from GAP until now. The shorts still fit but I wanted to go back to the comfort of full leggings.

Can you not fold the bump band down until your bump is bigger?

Wiggle4 · 31/08/2017 21:50

I was really quite small before and so my belly (not really a bump yet) just constant pops out over the top of the leggings haha. Nobody would know except it bothers me keep pulling them up! I'll try a bigger size for now then give the mothercare ones a go once bump really appears!

normal leggings, in bigger size, with fold over waist band. And pull it over the bump.

Another vote for Gap. Go to maternity section, then GapFit. If you sign up to their email list they are always sending round voucher codes for anywhere between 25-40% off so you won't pay the list price!

The mothercare active leggings are brilliant!! I was ready to give up running at 18 weeks as my bump felt so unsupported. Then I tried the mothercare leggings and it was amazing. I ran in them until 26 weeks, and I'm still wearing them now for brisk walking at 30 weeks. They're very stretchy and comfy, but also tight and supportive. They never slip down my bump. Plus they're much less expensive than anything else I've seen online.

I've had BumpFit leggings, they were about £35 I think. They've been good, thick material & super comfy. I wear a pair everyday as I'm a personal trainer and have no issues with them xx

rach217 · 01/09/2017 09:06

Tops I've been getting away with some of my usual looser fitting ones xx

Wiggle4 · 01/09/2017 21:51

Thanks everyone, I've ordered the mothercare ones now and am going to buy a cheap pair of bigger leggings for now!

H&M running leggings were quite good for me up until 28 weeks (just one particular pair black Lycra with a draw string around waist, seem to come up large on waist on ale for about 27.99) since then I've been wearing the mothercare ones and a pair of men's extra large base layer leggings (don't ask) that are tight everywhere except on bump! Agree definite VPL with both of these and need a long top but that might be more to do with lady bit swelling (one of pregnacies less flattering side effects) rather than fault of leggings. Good work on staying active! X

Just a quick follow up to say I've now used the mothercare ones and they're absolutely awesome. No chance of them slipping at all. Obviously not had sufficient time to test durability but will update if it falls to pieces after a few washes!
