Hi, I'm nearly 16 weeks and a few people have commented that I'm hardly showing, or my bump is very small! Is this a cause for concern?

I am starting to notice that a hard bump appearing in my abdomen which is good (I assume!)

Anyone felt the same?

Thanks

Honestly, the comments and judgements from other people start when you're pregnant and then never stop! I try to tell myself it's just people who feel the need to say something, without considering the impact of their words. My bump was either too big, too small, am I sure I'm not having twins? And now my baby either looks younger than he is, or too big for his age, etc.

I remember getting so fed up with constant comments from one colleague about me not "showing enough" when I was around 25 weeks pregnant, that I said "are you trying to make me worry that there's a problem with my baby and it's growth?". That stunned her into silence.

If I remember correctly I didn't start "showing" until about 28 weeks or so, and then within a matter of a few weeks I was huge.

I didn't start showing properly until about 24 weeks.

I'm 30 weeks now and the women at work constantly comment on how tiny I am. It made me really worried, even my midwife said I looked small when she measured me for the first time. We were both surprised when I was bang on target!

She said if you're a taller woman, your bump might look a bit small in comparison.

Congrats on your bump OP, don't let other people make your worried, your midwife will tell you if there's a problem :)

I didn't start showing until about 25+ weeks. Everyone is different Smile

Binks - Seriously don;t worry about it. People will comment on your bump even if it's utter nonsense. I've been told I look big and small both on the same day! Your midwife/prenatal team will pick up if there is anything to worry about but seriously don't stress over other peoples opinions!

Don't worry about it at all. In our antenatal group due December there were loads of women even on second pregnancies who were barely showing prior to 20 Week scan. And now most of us are feeling like we're ballooning by the minute! Grin

I didn't tell my colleagues until 22 weeks and no one had noticed anything! All babies and bumps are different.

My baby was on the small side 6lbs10oz but nothing wrong with her!

You'll be glad of it in the final weeks when women usually struggle because of the huge bump they're lugging around!
