Braxton Hicks/UTI/bowels?

I'm 28 weeks tomorrow.

All of a sudden I got really intense period like pain in my low stomach and aches in my back.

It seems to be easing off now that I'm sitting, I've had it maybe 5 minutes. I did kinda make me bend over until I was curled up on the sofa with my knees curled in.

I have been constipated, but for the past two days have opened my bowels so things seem to be moving but I'm yet to go today...

I am prone to UTIs outside of pregnancy bit ironically not had one since falling. No stinging when peeing, no smell etc. Unfortunately I've ran out my house test sticks so can't completely rule it out.

I stupidly checked Google which came up with Braxton Hicks, or UTI but could be things moving through my bowel.

Ive been really wet down there for past two days, had something similar at about 20 weeks which was ruled as "one of those things" after swaps showed nothing. My back ache was super tight and felt like my hips were being pulled in together, and my stomach was kinda hard with the intense cramps. It literally came out of no where while I was hanging out washing.

Anyone had similar? Could it be BH, or do I need to visit the doctor for UTI/further constipation help?

I had this at 28 weeks and passed some blood too. Hooked up and monitor was picking up contractions. They tested urine and showed protein and 2+ leukolites so sent off and i was sent on my way and told to wait and hear about results. A week later still same symptoms but getting more intense i went to gp and she tested me for uti and she suspected by the symptoms i was giving it was up in my kidneys by now. Antibiotics fixed everything and its only today at 35 weeks that im starting to feel the same sensations but got appointment on fri anyway. Seems it prob was a urine infection which got missed and could have been very dangerous if left longer as kidney infections can lead to sprom and preterm labour. Best getting checked out just to put your mind at rest if nothing else. You know your body best so trust your own judgement. Good luck!

It's definitely not my kidneys, but could be a UTI. It's passed now so I'll monitor it... Don't want it happening again

When I had bh it was more of a light ache and much more mild compared to what you are describing, though everyone is different. I would definitely get checked at the Dr if I were you. Best of luck!

It was quite intense, much like my period pains were like (used to really suffer with them in stomach, back and upper legs)

Have you got a drs appointment yet?

BMacklin · 02/09/2017 21:11

Sorry that not meant to come across so rude! I just wondered how you are!

Hi this is strange it sounds exactly what I had the other day, and I am 28 weeks! It reminded me of very early labour.. the kind that starts as period aches that move to the back!
I had mild back pain and period cramps and an ache through my insides that felt towards the back.. I was worried but was also questioning if it's kicks near the bowels.. when constipated maybe.. as I have been and the feeling was gone he next day after a bowel movement.
I think with braxtons hicks they say you can see he tightenings on you tummy. I haven't had that x

Ignore the typos. Sorry

Poor you, I had this last week at 20 weeks. I ended up calling the midwife but it went away a few hours later. It was really really painful though, tbh I thought something bad was happening. I think I was constipated, despite opening bowels that day Blush. I took fibogel, dried fruit and paracetamol. The next day it was gone. I also Googled and convinced myself it was v early BHs.

Hello all.

I have a appointment with the midwife tomorrow to discuss in more detail. It's not happened as bad since, but my stomach is tightening randomly some days. Other days it's completely fine. Very strange but baby is ok and that's what matters

Hi - just wanted to reassure you that I had exactly this - lasted half an hour and absolutely winded me then eased up.

It turned out to my the baby turning head down!

OnNaturesCourse · 04/09/2017 20:54

Thank you. It's just that everything is so concerning at the moment. I'm at that "baby growing" stage so don't expect engagement pain or braxton Hicks just yet.

It's actually started again tonight. I wonder could it be orgasm related? Seems to happen 2-4 hours after x

I'm 29 weeks just over. I've had the tightening of tum for last couple of weeks and in the last week also had cramp pain like feeling across tummy when hard and back ache- feels quite painful at times.

Happens when I am standing/ waking for a long period. It tends to go if I lean over or sit/ lie down. I think I'm getting it several times a day now? ( roughly)

Spoke with antenatal consultant today and she said it's braxton hicks and was quite unconcerned especially when I added I have no extra fluid or bleeding.

Also had pee tested and no protein or anything.

I had no idea you get Bh this early on, I thought you get BH the days before Labour starts!

Hope it's just Bh with you too. X

OnNaturesCourse · 08/09/2017 11:12

Yup BH are suspected as dome days there is nothing, and other days are quite bad. Thankful it's nothing major.
