Worried about ectopic pregnancy

Hi everyone :) I found out I was pregnant on the 19th of August since then I've had lots of bleeding/spotting, nothing heavy at all though! It started off brown, but was also sometimes pinky/red (and one time actually bright red). It's mostly when I wipe, sometimes I need to put some tissue there but never a pad or anything. I've also had no pain at all, other than a few minor niggles which I had in my previous (successful) pregnancy too. I did go to the EPU because it did concern me, and they took bloods and give me a scan. I thought I was 6 weeks at the time as my LMP was the 11th of July, but the scan didn't show anything at all, partly because my uterus is tilted. They DID scan my ovaries/tubes and couldn't see anything which hopefully was good. They thought I might have been less than I thought, and i think that's right because I had just come off my pill and probably ovulated later.

My HCG was 675 on Friday, then 1022 on Sunday around the same time which they were a bit concerned about, then this morning (only 41.75 hours later) I had more bloods taken and it was 1567 which they were fairly happy with, works out as a 67 hour doubling time which is better than my last one and within the 48-72 hour range I've been reading about :) since yesterday morning I've had no bleeding at all (other than 2 minutes ago which was a little bit of pinky/red blood when wiping) and no pain either, but they do want to scan me again Friday to hopefully see the baby developing in the uterus. They did mention to me before that it could be ectopic if the HCG isn't rising quickly and I'm bleeding, but I've just got a few questions I wonder if anyone has had experience with

  1. Would an ectopic pregnancy be visible early on through a transvaginal ultrasound? She did definitely take images of my ovaries/tubes and nothing was visible there, although my HCG at this time was only 675.

  2. If it was ectopic do you think I'd be having pain by now, with HCG being 1567? I heard the blood loss as well would be watery and a 'prune juice' colour which it definitely isn't!

I don't want to go into Friday too confident but I am really paranoid about possibily having an ectopic :(

Hi, I had an ectopic pregnancy of unknown location in November. I initially had a bleed like a period that lasted 3 days a day after I found out I was pregnant. A week later i was still gettin positive tests, & then I lost some clear fluid. I got referred for a transvaginal scan & they couldn't find anything. Had a blood test every 2 days where my hcg levels were only rising by 200. My levels peaked at 2200 & still nothing could be seen on a scan. At that level I had no bleeding or pain but was getting pregnancy symptoms. So basically what I'm saying is only time will tell, it's the hardest thing in the world when you can't do anything but wait. I googled everything & now realise when it comes to pregnancy no 2 are the same, and I'm a firm believer of what is meant to be will be. I have fingers crossed for you that it's not ectopic. Xx

Just got back from the hospital, they did another transvaginal scan and nothing was there 😟 they then found a 'shadow' in my left ovary and I've recently been having pain there, so I finally found out it is ectopic 😟 absolutely devestating, booked in for the methotrexate injection tomorrow. Just so glad it's picked up now instead of when it ruptures!

Oh Chris, I'm so sorry. I'm glad it was picked up now too but that doesn't make it any easier emotionally. Be kind to yourself. Flowers
