Hands and feet hot and swollen???

I'm nearly 34 weeks and my hands and feet have been really hot for the last few days I have had to keep them under the cold tap sometimes and today my feet feel tight and they look swollen with a slight burning sensation and my hands are also swollen. When I got up this morning they felt a bit sore to stand on. Should I call the midwife or is this normal? My midwife usually asks if iv had any swelling at every appointment.

Thank you!

Mine are the same, in fact I've just finished running my hands under the cold tap 😂 As far as I'm aware it's normal anyway in pregnancy but especially in heat. It's only something to worry about if it happens rapidly rather than throughout the day.

It's normal on a warm day like today. If it is extreme or sudden then I would call, otherwise it's just due to the heat. Make sure your next baby isn't born any later than May!!

I get very severe swelling in my feet and ankles in every pregnancy from early on, currently 37 weeks with this one plus one foot is worse than the other. You need to ensure you drink plenty water 8-10 glasses a day as well as trying to keep feet up (which is hard at the later stages)

yes, it's sort of normal.
just look out for

  • it not getting better with elevation/coolness
  • it being one sided
  • no other symptoms (itching, redness, headache, funny vision...)

I'm 37 weeks and mine are the same. My engagement ring has always been too big and spun round - not any more!

Make sure you keep hydrated.

A friend had pre-eclampsia and was told that if you press on your swollen skin and it doesn't spring back you should seek medical assistance. Otherwise I put mine under the cold tap or use one of those water sprays.
