Hi all! TMI below so just a warning lol!

Last week, after over 3 weeks of having a cough (firstly mucus-y and then turning into a very dry cough) I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux/GERD by my Doctor.

Other symptoms apart from the dry cough were dry-heaving/urging after coughing until I can't breathe as my throat seems to close up for a few seconds, occasionally bringing up watery sick due to the heaving and then gasping for breath as my throat finally opened again. This would happen about 5+ times a day.

I've been taking Gavisgon but it has not helped the cough.
Ive even woken during the night choking on stomach acid and being unable to breathe which was very scary for me and my partner!
It gets worse when I eat and get out of breath (e.g. Walking up a big hill etc)

Ive also taken ranitidine today but feeling very shaky and sick a few hours later, not sure if thats just pregnancy or if its because of the ranitidine.

I haven't actually had any heartburn yet thankfully.

Has anyone else suffered with these symptoms, particularly the coughing which leads to throat closing, with acid reflux?

I've had acid reflux for months now but only once (last week) did I wake up coughing, then before I knew it I basically had vomit in my mouth which went back down (urrghhhh) and I was coughing and catching my breath for ages. I sleep propped up because of the acid reflux, I don't really get heartburn either. The night that happened I had eaten dinner very late which I assume caused it in my case.
