Serious 1st Trimester Fatigue

This is my second pregnancy and I had fatigue, morning sickness, etc. the first time round - but I've been so exhausted this time (only 10 weeks' pregnant!) that I've pretty much spent the last couple of weeks unable to muster up enough energy to function normally. I've been getting in walks most days - around 40 minutes around the local streets - but often I do about an hour or two of light housework and I'm out for the next few hours.

Is such extreme fatigue normal? Has anyone else experienced this? Does it really end after the 1st trimester, because I'm getting worried it's not letting up at all. Can anyone help with their 1st trimester stories?

TIA Smile

I'm 20 weeks into my 2nd successful pregnancy and the tiredness this time round was 1000x worse than with DS. I put it down to having my son to look after as well as he this time around. Mine got better once I came into the second trimester but even now I still have to have a little nap most days.

As well as me

Yes, Ive found the fatigue much worse this time around. I think in part it's due to also having a toddler (now 22 months) to look after. I'd say it's only these last couple of weeks I've started to feel a bit better (so around 18 weeks). When I was at my most exhausted, but had to carry on regardless I had lots of tea with sugar, sugary drinks biscuits, (not ideal I know) and as many early nights as possible. House work and ironing took a back seat for a good few weeks, but luckily I have a lovely husband who did more than his fair share x

Yes!!! Nausea, sickness and exhaustion much worse for me already and I'm 8 weeks, also looking after 15 month old. Hopefully it will pass soon!

Really intense fatigue here. Have your had your iron levels to make sure you aren't anaemic as that can have an impact?

PastaOfMuppets · 24/08/2017 23:40

Thanks everyone ... nice to know I'm not alone, but it's not great that so many of us feel so rotten!

Fuzzy Owl DH keeps asking if I'm sure my iron is ok but ny blood tests have shown everything is fine and normal. Perhaps it's worth bringing up with the doctor again. Thanks.

I had terrible fatigue too from about 7 weeks till 10, I spent most weekends wherever possible in bed and haven't slept that much in my life other than when I've been ill. I still have moments of tiredness but nothing like that any more... Thank goodness.

I had this, sympathy! For me it got miles better in the second trimester, was tired and went to bed very early but could get through work and the day!
