Pupps? (With pictures, maybe TMI)

Hi all,

I posted a few days ago about a rash that has appeared on my body at 36 weeks pregnant. I have been to the doctor and she says she doesn't know what it is, and just to moisturise it and it should go away.... all well and good, but I am in agony with the itching and not sleeping at all!!!

When I was there I mentioned pupps and she said she had never heard of it, and wouldn't look into it any further, so was no help at all!!

If anyone has had it, do the rashes look similar to mine? Were there any good ways of reducing itching?

Thank you in advance - I am completely at the end of my tether SadSad

I've not had it but my friend did and it looks like it to me... Can you get a second opinion from your midwife? Awful that your GP didn't bother to look into it!

Friend said that oatmeal baths helped.

Are you taking anti histamine?

Calamine?

Have you got it over your bump too?

Could be an allergic reaction?

Can't believe the doctor hasn't heard of it!!

Google images looks similar to what you have. I'd call your midwife.

Heading off to the midwife now - taken antihistamine, used calamine lotion and cold showers but it is just spreading! It started off on my bump, and now the only place I don't have it is my chest and face.
I was so disappointed in the doctor too Sad

Yeah, that sounds like textbook PUPPP - sorry OP. Hope the midwife is more helpful than your doctor!

I had the kind of rash with cholestasis. Not a usual symptom as the midwives kept pointing out while being adamant they wouldn't take a blood test. I pushed until they said okay and they induced me the next day. X

Looks like it could be PUPPS but given a pp experience I'd push for a blood test to be safe!

I was lucky as my GP recognised it immediately but hardly and of the midwives at the hospital had ever heard of it! It's horrible and you have my sympathy. Loads of E45 cream was the only thing that helped at all, I applied it constantly.

It did eventually dry out and go away, it was awful whilst it lasted though!
