Just went to the toilet and I'm bleeding as if I'm on my period. Really worried but the early pregnancy unit isn't open for another 15 mins.

Obviously I'm now really scared. Anyone got any experience of this?

TIA

Flowers no experience, but didn't want to read and run. hope you manage to get help from the EPU and sure someone will be along with more knowledge soon Flowers

Didn't want to read without posting. Is there someone you can call to be with you? Be very gentle on yourself, 9am isn't far off now Flowers

Daffodil77 · 23/08/2017 09:23

Thanks both. They said I have to see you doctor to get a referral and so it might be a few days before I get scanned. She said it's not necessarily bad news and to stay positive.

I'm going to try and get a phone call with the GP instead as they won't be able to do anything but I need to see them to get the referral. Unfortunately the EPU don't self refer unless you've already seen them.

Try not to panic I know it's easier said than done. Are you able to book a private scan today for some reassurance x

Daffodil77 · 24/08/2017 06:51

Hi all, thanks again for your support.

I went to an out of hours gp last night and have a scan this morning. I'm assuming it is the worst case scenario so I'm prepared.

Fingers crossed for you Daffodil. Just wanted to share that I also had "fresh red" bleeding at 7 weeks and had to phone my GP to get a referral for EPU. I got a scan the next day and all was fine, I'm now 33 weeks. Thought it might help to know it can be fine, I took some reassurance in that I wasn't experiencing pain with the bleeding, which apparently bodes well. My midwife later explained it as "bleeding in the first trimester is not normal, but is common" if that makes sense? You're definitely not alone x

Oysterbabe · 24/08/2017 07:05

Good luck Flowers
Are you still bleeding?

purpleviolet1 · 24/08/2017 08:02

Thinking of you, it's such a horrible thing to go through Flowers

jcsc · 24/08/2017 10:08

Good luck. Hope all is ok for you xx

sophiejayne96 · 24/08/2017 10:19

Hoping for the best. Keep us posted with how you get on xxx

Good luck. Early bleeds are very common and it doesn't necessarily mean a pregnancy loss. A friend and I were pregnant at the same time and both had this. She was totally fine (I unfortunately wasn't.) it's relatively common to have a first trimester bleed. Lack of pain/cramping is a cautiously hopeful sign.

If you do experience severe pain/one sided pain please go to get seen immediately

Daffodil77 · 24/08/2017 17:14

So the hospital confirmed I did miscarry. I also had cramping which isn't a good sign. The scan showed a possible ectopic pregnancy, despite my symptoms suggesting otherwise. I now have the joy of staying in hospital til Saturday so they can monitor my HCG levels.

Thanks you all for your concern and support over the last day. I hadn't told any of my friends or family so it really helped me.

Staying positive until we can start TTC again. Xxx

So sorry to hear that!! Get lots of rest xx

Anatidae · 24/08/2017 17:25

Oh so sorry :( very similar to what happened to me - it's hard.

Rest and take care. I found I dealt ok with it physically then I kind of crashed a bit in the weeks after.

jcsc · 24/08/2017 17:41

So sorry for your loss :( x

mummabubs · 24/08/2017 19:09

So sorry to hear that Daffodil, I had everything crossed for you. Look after yourself and best of luck for your future pregnancy xxx

purpleviolet1 · 24/08/2017 19:12

I'm so sorry. Take it easy and be kind to yourself. X
