Hi,

I know this is technically a question for "Childbirth" but I've been watching it a couple of weeks and it doesn't get much traffic so figure I'd post here....

So, my due date is tomorrow....this is my second DC and I'd really like to avoid a epidural this time due to many reasons!

Anyway, midwife has explained that I can have diamorphine and having seen so many negative stories I'd love to see some positives!!! Can't anyone give me one?

Has it helped anyone get nearer to the much wanted 10cm dilated?

Xx

Oh my word, it was amazing. I was in labour for 8 hrs before they decided on an emcs. When they were getting set up the midwife said "sorry for the delay", I had them all in stitches, said I didn't care, I felt like I was drinking cider in the sunshine!

That's exactly the feeling I need jbee1979 😂

I had diamorphine after my EMCS birth. Lovely hallucination that a bucket was a nurse...

I had everything with that labour:
TENS (buzzy wasp sensation not remotely helpful in the face of bloody awful PAIN), gas and air (meh), pethidine (falling asleep between tightly-packed contractions just plain weird) and finally, blissful epidural (although anaesthetist hit his head on the over-head light just before giving it, and everyone was overly concerned about him, I felt)

I've had it twice, both positive experiences. Will definitely have again if needed. Also had once birth with just G&A but only because labour and birth only lasted 40 mins!

Well I'm officially overdue (granted only by one day) and don't feel like she'll be coming anytime soon so the Diamorphine will have to wait!

Just been to midwife and baby hasn't grown for 2 weeks so scan booked for Tuesday next week- couldn't fit me in any sooner because of bank holiday 😕 fingers crossed she's okay x
