Hi, first time mum here, 36+2.
Just wondering when you should get everything ready. Washing baby's bedding and blankets today. Want to know if I should set up the moses basket and crib now. E.g put the bedding and mattress on. Or do I wait til it's a bit closer? Mattresses are still wrapped in plastic so don't want to get them out too early
Thanks

I was very superstitious, and refused it even have anything in the house before the baby was here.
But I'm sure other people would say it's fine?? Maybe.

Hi it's totally up to you when you do it all, I've washed all my babies bedding and blankets and all his clothes, and packed them all away, as I thought if I make up his crib would dust settle with it just sitting there for weeks. It wouldn't even matter if you made Moses basket etc after baby is born as long as everything is washed and waiting xx

Babyblues14 · 22/08/2017 17:38

That's what I'm worried about, don't want everything to get dusty because with my luck I will be overdue and have to wash it all again Grin

What kind of mattress is it? The recommendation for non-organic ones is to air them for three to six months before use.

Baby clothes shouldn't get dusty if you wash them and put them away in a chest of drawers. I washed them all about 37 weeks. Moses basket won't take long at all to sort if everything is washed and ready - could you plan for your partner to do it before you come home from hospital/ as soon as you get home?

Hope everything goes really well!

I had ds at 35 weeks. .

Get sorted op!!

Babyblues14 · 22/08/2017 17:43

Partner could sort it for me but I like to be the one to organize things Grin I have about ten different lists and must have packed and repacked mine and babys hospital bag three times Grin I'm too impatient

Ooh, I'm 36+1 and have just washed the bedding today too!
We have the nursery set up, all the furniture done (and I'm glad cos I'm not sure I could do it now! All that sitting on the floor and bending etc) but we also have a snuzpod that needs putting together which we will do this week.

Hospital bag is semi-packed, just need toiletries. Baby's bag needs packing.

Not sure if I'm going to wash the clothes. Seems like a lot of faff. I only washed the bedding as I always wash my own to get the weirs coating off and make them softer.

Urglewurgle

I was thinking of not washing the clothes too but I ordered some baby clothes online and when I opened then they stunk of the plastic they had been wrapped in Confused

I'm washing clothes & bedding now (34 weeks) and want to get as much assembled and in place as possible JUST in case we get an early surprise Smile and so I can stop worrying about it!

Notsure1234 · 22/08/2017 19:55

38 weeks and I've washed all clothes and bedding etc and everything is assembled. Just planning on making the crib up when we get home from hospital as the bedding is ready to go

It look around 8 months for us to make up the cot :-/

I would definitely take the plastic off the mattress ASAP and start airing it out.

Everything else will be fine washed now as well.
