Are pregnancy pillows worth it?

Most mornings I wake up with a really sore back. I'm trying to sleep on my side and, prior to getting pregnant, would have said I'm a side sleeper but I always seem to roll onto my back in the night.
Would a pregnancy pillow help with the back ache? Would it stop me rolling onto my side? They seem pretty pricey so I want to know they're worth it before I fork out money!

Yes, I got a few very shaped pillows off amazon, they cost less than 10.00 and I still use them now

Mulch · 22/08/2017 14:16

And tk max for the longer style pregnancy pillows at 20.00

SelfObsessionHoney · 22/08/2017 14:19

I didn't bother with one. But I have a fuck tonne of pillows anyway so just rearranged them around me. One under the bump, one between thighs, one between knees and one tucked in my back.

YES

Argos had a bolster type log pillow for less than £10. I could move it into the best position for me at the time, it was great. Once baby arrived I used it behind my back when feeding it bed. You don't need to spend a fortune.

BrawneLamia · 22/08/2017 14:30

I think they are worth it, I used mine through two pregnancies and also to support my back when co-sleeping.

Lana1234 · 22/08/2017 14:31

Yes! I'm due any day now and the last few weeks have been really tough physically and I've found it hard to sleep but the pregnancy pillow has been a god send it's so comfy ☺ mine was off amazon and was only around £20

Expectingbsbunumber2 · 22/08/2017 14:31

Oh god yes£ I didn't have one with my first but have one for this pregnancy and I love it! Does help me sleep alot better x

Holdbacktheriver · 22/08/2017 16:46

Absolutely worth it! With my first I didn't buy one, thought they were a con and suffered with all the pillows and cushions I had in the house, no amount of them helped. I had awful spd and wasn't comfortable once that pregnancy.

With Dc2 I got spd again and DH brought one home for me when I was 12 weeks and it was bliss! It was so nice to get into bed and the pain go away and get comfy.

It took me through another 3 pregnancies following that one, so 4 in total and I have now gifted it to a friend who is expecting her first so it's still going Smile

NotAnotheChinHair · 22/08/2017 16:48

yes
I want one now
I'm not even pregnant (and won't be again; youngest DC is 10!)

dinosaurkisses · 22/08/2017 17:58

My friend bought me one of Amazon for £25- it's a massive U shape so if you tend to swap sides in the middle of the night it's great as you don't have to drag a big pillow to the other side of the bed!

That, along with a pregnancy massage I had at 26 weeks are the two things that have made relaxing way easier- I even had a completely uninterrupted nights sleep for the first time in 3 months last week which I 100% attribute to the pillow 😂

Kittykat93 · 22/08/2017 18:13

Yes definitely worth it Smile I got mine when I was around 14 weeks and started having trouble sleeping. I'm now 29 weeks and can't sleep without it, much more comfortable and supportive on my back and hips.

cakesandphotos · 22/08/2017 18:52

I'm 14 weeks now, I noticed the night before last that I just wasn't comfortable.

What pillows do people recommend?

I can recommend the Sanggol one, got it off Amazon and it's the massive U shape like dinosaur was describing Smile

It's heavenly!

TheEdgeOfGlory266 · 22/08/2017 23:06

Yes!! Cuddling mine right now. Wouldn't have gotten through my pregnancy with DS without one. Bought a new one the other day for this pregnancy in the Aldi baby event for £6.99

meltingmarshmallows · 22/08/2017 23:06

Couldn't live without mine! It's one of the big U shaped ones

Littlelouse · 22/08/2017 23:14

Have had a massive U shaped one since early on but recently got rid of it because I wake every couple of hours with really achy hips and have to roll over onto my other side. Each time I did this, I'd have to extract myself from one side of the 'U' and then tuck the other side of the pillow between my knees. It inevitably resulted in a huge fight five times a night.

I might replace it with just a long one that doesn't bend as that would probably be more portable.

Scoleah · 22/08/2017 23:25

I bought a body pillow (one of the big long pillows) thought I'd pick a cheap one up and had one in the Argos sale (it's £15 now so still cheaper than most) ahh it was the best thing I've ever bought, and especially as bump grew bigger. It was a godsend. I still use it now and my DS is 15 months! Blush X

NeonSun · 05/09/2017 22:17

Yeah, pregnancy pillows is the best decision in this case :) I wasn't sure about them too when I was pregnant, however I started to have problems with my sleep so decided to try... I got such Today's mom model and it's really comfortable, my sleep was finally ok till the end of my pregnancy Easter Smile
I used it later too after the birth of my son and it's true that in casual life they're very comfortable too Grin
As I remember such stuff isn't very expensive, usually pregnancy pillows cost some like 60-70$, I think that it's not such a big price for them :) Here's on Cozzy many different models of them for example, hope it'll be helpful for you :)

The theraline is the ultimate one.love mine!

Mrstobe90 · 05/09/2017 23:58

I bough one at the weekend as I wasn't sleeping great and tbh I'm not overly impressed. Bought one from mothercare for around £40 so you'd expect it to be a miracle for that price lol I'd say buy a cheap one and see how you go with it xx

butterflyparadise · 06/09/2017 00:02

Oh god I think I may cry. I used mine (that I named lovingly) through 2 hellish pregnancies. I loved him. Sniff. It was a huge u shaped one the length of me. DH made me give him up after our last child. He was getting a bit jealous of the other man in our bed. He took him to the tip Shock

Happy memories.

AmyB1986 · 06/09/2017 00:08

YES totally worth every penny! I've got a huge 12ft u shaped one and it's a god send.
Mine was off eBay brand new cost just under £20 and was next day delivery. DH doesn't like it though, he can't get near me!
