Hi all ,

As title suggests I'm heavily pregnant and only seem to be comfortable while sleeping on my back.

If I sleep on either side I get cramp in my upper thigh and wake up in pain every couple of hours.

Is it okay to sleep on your back? Is it actually dangerous for your baby?

Thank you.

The midwives advice now is to sleep in whatever position is comfortable. I can only sleep on my left as I get cramps and aching all over my body. Third trimester too. Baby is fine and midwife has no concerns so do what you feel is best x
Congratulations c

The study that found a link between that and still birth is pretty small.

If you are lying on your back and compressing vessels you're going to feel dizzy. If you feel fine, you're probably fine.

Thank you , babyblues , congratulations to you too.

I read something about back sleeping having links to stillbirth so became incredibly freaked out by sometimes waking up on my back.

With dc1 I managed to stay on my left side all the way through which is apparently the optimal sleeping position for blood flow etc. I ended up being induced due to slowed growth and reduced movements.

This pregnancy no matter what I do I wake up on my back, it's the only comfy position for me at the moment. All seems fine with baby and I'm trying not to worry about it as if it's happening in my sleep there's not a lot I can do about it
