40 + 12 today and woke to contractions at 4am...4/5 minutes apart 30/40 seconds all morning. Hospital don't want me in until I am having 3 or 4 every 10 minutes or waters break. Any tips on how to distract yourself at home during this time please ladies?! I am in hospital regardless tomorrow (induction). I have taken some paracedamol as advised by midwife and would love to sleep but can't through the pain! Hmm

Stick on a box set and bounce on a birth ball?

I spent most of the day in the bath, just topping the water up and either listening to my hypnobirthing tracks or watching tv on my iPad.

Walk round your house. Go out for short walks. Gravity is your friend. Walk. Walk. Walk. And count your contractions in and out.

That worked for me anyway. Good luck.

Don't cry out in pain/scream during the contractions apparently that makes them worse and uses up your energy, I did not know that haha!

Breathe through them and count to 10 or as far as you can, good luck!

all these suggestions are making me jealous. I won't get to do any of those things this time round as il have an 18mo while going into labour. No bath or box sets for me! Confused
I would say the same though, just chill. But I also remember how hard that is when you've had enough, especially when you're over due. I'd suggest a walk. Not too far from home and with a well charged phone in case you need someone but it'll get things moving and give you something to do, a bit of fresh air before the madness! Good luck x
