Winter clothes for November baby?

First baby due November, a little girl :)

We've gotten plenty of baby grows and normal/inside clothes, but what do we need to keep her warm when we're out and about? All my family seem to have Summer babies so I'm a bit lost when it comes to tiny woolies and things!

A snowsuit, hats, mittens, and lots of blankets is all you need when they're tiny.

My little girl was a November baby - we had a snow suit (the really big padded coats) but honestly only used it a few times as it was just too big and bulky.

We had lots of fluffy onesie type like this: THIS

We stuck to those with a regular babygro underneath it and a little hat on the head.

If she was in her car seat, she just had blankets tucked over her. Hope this helps!

Those types are still super warm but are nowhere near as massive and slippy as the snowsuits.

Congrats! I have 2 November born dc 😊. They lived in their snow suit outside with attached mittens and booties so they didn't fall off, but we could remove them if they got a bit warm. No need for extra mittens or booties. A nice blanket and a thin hat to keep head protected from extra windy weather.

We ended up with a star suit from tuppence & crumble, others do them too. We rarely used the snowsuit as it made our little one too warm and was a mare to get on and off a sleeping baby.

Snow suits are a nightmare! Vests and baby grows, a cardigan and blankets. A rain cover for the car seat was a pretty handy investment for out and about.

Yup star fleece is amazing.
Im hoping we can at least squeeze this autumn out of it but if not we'll buy another!

Much much better to have a few thinner wool layers then a great big warm pram bag than it is to smother them in snow suits. Then when you come inside the shops/bus whatever you just unzip it.
Snow suits are great for when they are up and about of course but a tiny one needs a different approach.

Otherwise the poor little mite is sweltering.

Wool next to the skin, few warm layers and a big pram bag (we have a fur and wool one and a sheepskin one, both great.) important to keep extremities warm too - again wool is good, with a thin shell layer over the top.

NEVER use fleece that's synthetic (polar fleece) on a young baby. It doesn't breathe, it's watertight and it can lead to overheating.

A snowsuit isn't needed for a newborn. It's not as if you are going to take them to the park and plonk them on the swing. They are going to be snug in the pram or sling. So vest, sleep suits and woolly cardy and hat then blankets.

You can get very cute star shaped blankets for snuggling them up between the car and the house.

We had a few zip up thin fleece all in ones withe feet in to pop dd in (dec born) when going out. Thin enough for the carseat, with a blanket over once clipped in til the car warmed up a bit. Great in the pushchair (carrycot bit) with a hat and blanket.

I'm glad I asked, lots of good advice here! I think I will forgo the snowsuits and look at those baby star blankets (how cute!!!)

I have Dec and Jan born babies. Typically they wore vest, baby grow, and grandma's knitted cardigans! Out and about we had an M&S fleecy pram suit...try and get one with two zips all the way down the middle...really easy to lay it in the pram and pop baby in it and zip it back up, and a hat. Also kept a couple of waffle style blankets handy if it was really cold when in the pram or for tucking round them in the car seat (when they shouldn't wear a snow suit). Both my Midwife and HV were keen to stress you shouldn't wrap them up too much as they overheat easily, so thin layers are best, and check their temp by putting your fingers inside their vest/baby gro, rather than feeling their extremities. Also remember if you have them close to you in a sling or carrier they pick up your body heat too. Lovely time of year to have a newborn, lots of warm snuggles on the sofa! Good luck

No polyester fleece! It can overheat them badly.
For the Uks mild winters you should be fine with a couple of thinner woolly layers -merino or cotton next to the skin, overlayer and warm pram bag.

Try and get a Morrck for the car seat they are fab. I would get the bigger size though the small one is a bit of a waste!
