Confused

Right, so I thought I was pregnant as I had spotting 4 days before I was due on. Which was Sunday. Monday I had a medium bleed only changed my pad twice or so then Tuesday to even now (Saturday) I'm not bleeding really. When I wipe there is dark brown on the toilet paper. Not loads. Just enough to see. This has been happening now since Tuesday. Anyone have any ideas why this is. I have never spotted before & I have never had a period like this before. I'm 26.

Yeah this does sound confusing. Did you get a positive result on a pregnancy test to make you believe you were pregnant?

No, I took one last night around 8pm as I'd been away from my partner for 5 days so didn't want to take one without him there & he was more excited than me. Came up negative. I thought I was pregnant as we've been trying & ive read about implantation bleeds etc... I've never had spotting before or an early period. I'm like clock work & have been since I started my period.

Sorry to hear that OP. I think so many people post about implantation bleeding and what not that i though that if you didn't get the bleed you couldnt possibly be pregnant. It's only something like 25% (or 30% I'm sure someone can correct) of women who do experience implantation bleed. From what I have read the spotting doesn't last 4 days. I got my BFP this month and i ha no bleed or real symptoms apart from wind/bloat whatsoever. Also annoyingly and rather cruely our cycles can just change, for no reason whatsoever sometimes. I am always regular and one month I had a 42 day cycle as opposed to my usual 31. WTF!!?!? Anyway, my point is that spotting doesn't necessarily mean implantation, and if implantation is not successful may not lead to a BFP.

Maybe do a test on the day your period is due and if it's still negative I would assume that the spotting you had was a weird period. If you're still really confused, see a specialist doctor who obviously knows way more than I do.

I was due on, on Thursday & took it the test Friday evening. My partner has said we're going to try another test in a few days & use the first pee of the day.
