Glucose in urine- gestational diabetes?

Hi, midwife found glucose in my urine today. They've said they are going to check again at my next appointment (2 weeks) and it isn't a cause for concern unless it happens again. I'm really worried about gestational diabetes and feeling guilty that I might have caused it somehow. Does anyone have any advice?

Only that you cannot cause GD, so please try not to feel guilty.

Do you have any known risk factors that could increase the chance?

I don't think so, have low BMI. Can it sometimes just be a one off?

I had high glucose in my urine and had to go for the gestational diabetes test but didn't have it.

I had eaten 3 packets of Maltesers the day before the urine test. Blush so hopefully it's something as simple as that.

(BMI really is not the only risk factor. Mine is early-20s and that's with PCOS!). You should have the GTT automatically if you have PCOS, close family history of T1, BMI over 30 (IIRC), previous GD. Glucose in urine can be unrelated so as long as your MW is not worrying, I wouldn't be.

Thanks, hearing that has settled me a bit. I'm a worrier so it just annoyed me a bit.

I had glucose in my urine twice, once at 27w and at 34w. I was sent for a blood test at 34w to check for GD and was negative. It can just be something as simple as something you've eaten or drank.

Thanks, hopefully that's just what it was.
