Has anyone ended up having an induction but also been strep b positive? Please can you share your experience because I am due to be induced Tuesday and scared about the risks strep b can cause the baby Sad. I know you have an IV to give anti-biotics but that is all I know.

Thank you x

You and baby will be absolutely fine Flowers

My first born was induced, and I had strep b so was hooked up to IV antibiotics. The only thing that sticks out for me about that experience was how hot and tingly the antibiotics felt as they were going up my arm, but apparently that's completely normal. It was a lovely experience, and not something I would hesitate to go through again if I were to have strep b in any more pregnancies. Good luck Smile

My waters broke spontaneously but because of the group B Strep I was induced too. I had two canulas, one for the synthetic hormone and the other for the four hourly antibiotics. 18 hours in total; 1hr was active labour and 20mins pushing with no grazes, tears anything. I felt very lucky as it was a much better birth than first time round.

They would have sent us home pretty much within a couple of hours after delivery but the paediatric Dr wanted to keep us in overnight so they could observe baby. He was concerned about the length of time between my waters breaking and delivery. Thankfully no issues at all and that baby is now a hefty 15 month old! Best wishes for a smooth delivery.

You will be well looked after and baby will be fine, try not to worry.
They found out I had it when my waters broke and I didn't go in to labour and they did a swab. I had to go in the next day and be induced and had the antibiotics drip.
I'm a huge worrier but hadn't actually heard of strep b at the time so was oblivious to the risks. But both you and the hospital are prepared and it will be fine.

Induced here and had IV for Strep B at the same time once waters broken. All fine. Didn't notice to be honest.

Had iv antibiotics and straight forward deliveries each time. Stayed overnight to check babies had no spike in temp but all good. Much better they know before delivery and you get antibiotics and baby is monitored.
