Please help! I'm 5.5 weeks pregnant and have been spotting on and off for 5 days. I've had 2 miscarriages this year already so am really upset, can anyone offer any reassurance?

Hi there, I've been really upset, I had a miscarriage in Jan and one in May and am now 5.5 weeks pregnant and spotting again. I've had a scan but could only see the yolk - I was hoping for a heartbeat as I thought I was 6 weeks but they think a little under - more like 5.5. The spotting keeps stopping and starting, it's mainly when I wipe, mainly brown or light pink and sometimes a bit orange in colour. I'm booked in for a scan next Friday which feels like an eternity right now, has anyone been through similar that can tell me any success stories or non success

Sorry you're going through this, it must be horrible. I spotted at 5 weeks for a week and 7 weeks for a week and am currently 22+3. Had scans at 7 weeks, 13 weeks and 20 weeks and baby is a-ok. Good luck x

I'm so glad it worked out for you, thanks so much for posting this has made me feel a bit better. Did you ever find out what caused the spotting?

Sorry to hear this OP. I had on and off spotting with my pregnancies (through the whole pregnancy actually including a bigger bleed at 28 weeks)the advice I was given was, it is fine as long as it stays as spotting and there is no heavy bleeding/clotting. I do know those that have had big bleeds and their pregnancies have continued, however.
I haven't had previous miscarriages though, so perhaps worth ringing midwife? Good luck Flowers

I was advised it was implantation bleeding (baby making itself comfy Smile) and it was never anything more than brown in colour. I also spotted about a week before I found out I was pregnant and assumed AF was on her way cos that's what had happened every time before. Baby is a clomid baby.

@Shiva83
How are You? I have been thinking of you, have you got your scan this Friday?

Shiva83 · 23/08/2017 07:41

Thanks @fizzytonicplease

After a week of spotting I decided to take a pregnancy test yesterday and it came out negative. Absolutely devastated 😔 I've not decided yet what too do about the scan but will be finding comfort in wine this weekend xx thanks for thinking of me

Go to the scan.. tests aren't always reliable, especially so early on. It's best to check for sure what's happened. Lots of love and still have my fingers crossed for you xxx

Thanks so much everyone for your kind words. I have changed my scan now too Tuesday due to the bleed but will let you know if I get any further advise. Best wishes with your pregnancies x
