DD arrived before I was due to go on maternity leave so didn't have a chance to think about it.

Hope it all goes well for you.

Babyblues14 · 17/08/2017 15:48

Finished last week at 34 weeks and felt odd too. Now I know exactly why. I miss it like crazy and regret having to go off so early but I had lots of annual leave to use. I'm driving myself crazy with boredom already
Good luck with yours Smile

I was delighted to finish. I was huge, it was the middle of the hottest summer on earth ever, I had a long commute and I was thoroughly fed up. I'd have skipped out the building on my last day if I hadn't been so fat and swollen.

ApplesTheHare · 17/08/2017 16:29

I didn't really think about it until 36 weeks (was due to finish at 38), then all of a sudden I couldn't walk, sit down or drive. I was incredibly relieved to finish early, at 37 weeks, and DD made a surprise appearance at 38 weeks.

TiramisuQueenoftheFaeries · 17/08/2017 17:05

I finished at 37 weeks and was generally happy to. In my last few weeks, although still physically fit, I was increasingly conscious that I had limited energy and I wanted to be spending it at home nesting and not on work.

I had a lovely 3 weeks at home napping, cooking like a maniac, and taking long walks before DS arrived bang on time.

Jellybabie3 · 17/08/2017 17:44

Ah ok I'm glad i am not the only one that feels odd. I am looking forward to being off its just so strange.....hopefully once i get the swing of it i will find things to do

Jellybabie3 It's a huge change, so only natural to feel a bit odd. I'm sure everyone has said this to you but if you can just enjoy the bit of time before the baby comes.

I felt bored and frustrated once I'd actually finished but looking back I wish I'd made the most of just being by myself and relaxing, because it's so hard to get time to yourself once a baby arrives! Enjoy your leave and your baby Flowers

Jellybabie3 · 17/08/2017 17:59

Thanks will do. I realise i sound like a right t**t. 'What will i do with all this time off'.....seriously, people (including me) dream of this. I am now writing a list of stuff i can do Smile

Jellybabie3 it's totally understandable Grin Work is such a huge part of our everyday lives!

Mandraki · 17/08/2017 18:24

I'm 33 weeks and with 3 weeks to go in work I CAN NOT WAIT. Everything feels a struggle, am tired and achy and generally fed up. But I think once I've gone off and the realisation hits me that I won't be going back until next June, it will feel pretty weird!

OkyDoke · 17/08/2017 18:27

I finished on Friday at 38 weeks and it's very odd! Don't know what to do with myself. Have managed to rest a lot and while I probably could have done another week it's nice to have a bit of time pottering etc!

SellMySoulForSomeSleep · 17/08/2017 18:31

I struggle with mat leave. Last time it took me about a month to get used to the new routine.

I'm 3 days in on my second stint and already confused about what day of the week it is. Not that I absolutely love my job. I just love routine.

ChickenBhuna · 17/08/2017 18:32

I finish in the middle of September. I'm on my summer break right now so actually only have five days of work before maternity leave begins.

I'm looking forward to it , I get to finally meet my older dd's teacher and do the school run with her for a bit before this little one is born.

Bobbiepin · 17/08/2017 18:36

Chicken I'm almost the same. I'm off for summer too but I'll be going back until October. I'm dreading going back and wish I could cut my 5 weeks to 2!

MrsCharlieD · 17/08/2017 19:02

I finish mid September and I can't bloody wait. I've already started winding down my responsibilities and passing work out so I'm not really working to full capacity and I'm a bit bored. Last time I finished at 37 weeks and ended up having a month at home before ds made an appearance. The first week just felt like annual leave but by the 3rd week I didn't know what to do with myself and I wasted the time being lazy. This time ds will be home with me and I'm really looking forward to having some fun days out and quality time. Once the baby comes you don't give work a second thought, at least I didn't.

10storeylovesong · 17/08/2017 19:16

I finished last Sunday at 33 weeks and I skipped out of the office knowing I won't be back until Sept 2018. I quite enjoy my job but find pregnancy very difficult and was not enjoying early starts (I left the house at 6am), commutes and trying to deal with a 4 year old and the housework when get in. It's been chaos as done something every day with my DS so had no time to relax and miss work yet.

MrsG30 · 17/08/2017 19:42

I go off in 6 weeks and can not wait - though I am expecting to feel odd and emotional when I actually finish. I adore my job and the company I work for - I can't imagine not being involved for a whole year! Thankfully my maternity cover is absolutely fabulous, so I don't have any stress about that 😊

travis45 · 17/08/2017 21:22

I finish next week at 33 1/2 weeks, I can't freeeeeeeeekin wait.

londonloves · 17/08/2017 21:27

I finish tomorrow too, I'm 34 weeks. I'm knackered and huge and looking forward to a rest. I am sure I won't get bored....! X

Urglewurgle · 17/08/2017 21:32

I finish tomorrow too, at 35 weeks. I've been so uncomfortable even sitting in my chair the past few days and have to get up at 5:30 so really struggling with the lack of sleep.

That said, I feel a bit sad about finishing work! And kinda apprehensive.
