Hi Everyone,

The last piece we need to buy for our nursery is a nursing chair... our nursery is fairly small... i'd love a glider but I think it'd swamp the room a little!

Basically I want something comfy... and I prefer something with a high back as we're both tall.

Any recommendations of nursing/non nursing chairs you have and love?

Many Thanks!

I've gone with the Ikea Poang chair. The normal one has a nice little bounce to it or they do a rocking chair version. Not used it for nursing yet as I am due today and no sign of baby yet but I have sat in it to read and it is pretty comfy

Ikea Poang all the way. You can get all sorts of versions - fabric, leather, different coloured wood etc. It is so comfy, has arm rests, rocks to soothe baby, is compact and doesn't scream nursing chair so has good longevity. I used ours to nurse two babies in and now 7 years later my eldest has it in his bedroom (with a new cover on it) and he sits on it to read, play iPad etc.

Also high back and many versions have a bead cushion too.

I didn't find our glider chair that great for BFing when DD was tiny and we were both getting the hang of BFing as the arm would get in the way of my elbow. Sofa with space for cushions was better. But once she was bigger (like 3m+) and position wasn't so important, the glider was great. Now she's almost 3 and I still love having it in her room for bed time and middle of the night cuddles, as it's so effortless to rock. We have a Poang too and it's not in the same league for rocking in my opinion, I didn't BF in it much though as the sofa was always right there. Have to admit though we only had the glider because someone offered it to us for free, I probably wouldn't have bought one but it is fab.
I don't think a glider would take up any more space than a poang, if you didn't have a footstool. Our nursery is fairly small (6ft by 8ft) with cot and a large chest of drawers and the glider sits fine.

Thank you guys... will go and have a look at ikea for the chair you've mentioned Smile

We do have room for a glider but we think it would encroach on the room too much to allow for clearance for gliding! Decisions decisions! Grin

IKEA Poang here too, in both kids rooms! Good for bedtime stories after the night feeding stage is over too.

If you feel like splurging a bit, check out the rockers and gliders at Olli Ella. They're comfy and super stylish!
