How much sex were you having when ttc? Daily? Every other day? Multiple times a day? Once a week? Can you do it too much?! Will that reduce the sperm quality!? Haha I sound hilarious I know but just interested to know what is best?!

Try and do it once every other day

Track ovulation

SomehowSomewhere1 · 14/08/2017 23:35

There seemed mix advice out there when I looked. At least once every three days over your fertile period. But primarily just have fun!

dowhatyouwish · 14/08/2017 23:37

When TTC I did it everyday for 4 days in the run up to my ovulation day. It seemed to work for me Grin

PS I charted my temperature and did the legs in the air and extra orgasm afterwards for luck thing as well - seemed to have worked but easily fluke too.

Every other day during the fertile week.
We dont have sex every single day normally so we didn't want to make it like a "job" when TTC, seemed very unnatural to us. Plus the quality of little runners is better if there is some time in between.
Worked both times, - got pregnant on the first cycle.

Teamkhaleesi · 15/08/2017 15:40

6 out of 7 days in the fertile week! We don't usually do it this often but wanted to be absolutely sure we hadn't left it to chance. Got pregnant first month trying both times but not sure if that's because of how often we did it or if we just got really lucky

LucyLugosi · 15/08/2017 17:17

The month I was successful we did it every day in the fertile week :)
I tracked ovulation using clearblue sticks and monitoring cm. As soon as I saw that ewcm I jumped on DP!

TonicAndTonic · 15/08/2017 17:20

At least every other day during fertile window (as determined by the Clue phone app). Didn't track ovulation or chart anything apart from dates of periods.

Oysterbabe · 15/08/2017 18:16

We're also ancient and knackered so I used ovulation tests and only DTD twice the month we conceived.

Snoozlecorn · 15/08/2017 21:23

We were DTD every day/other day around ovulation. Sperm quality actually improves the more ejaculation occurs!

TheLegendOfBeans · 15/08/2017 21:25

Just get your hands on the Clearblue smiley ovulation indicator thing
Expensive but worth it.

NurseMama · 15/08/2017 22:16

DH and I had sex every day for DS and every other day for DD.

IamChipmunk · 16/08/2017 07:36

Every day/ eod just before and after ovulation. Took 18m with ds so A LOT!!

Not so much with Dd. In fact the month she was conceived we had only dtd 3 times! She was conceived in 3m

Its worth getting to know ur cycle. I have a shortish cycle 24/25 days and ovulate around day 9/10, much earlier than textbook. We always started dtd as soon a my period finished up til about day 17/18. Usually eod on day 8,9,10 if possible!

mindutopia · 16/08/2017 12:59

We usually only did it the two days around ovulation, so 2 days before and 1 day before or 1 day before and O day. We might still have sex other times if we wanted, but those were not with the intention of getting pregnant. I'm not in the doing it all day every day all month camp. Honestly, my husband would probably never have even wanted to have children if it meant we had to have sex that often! Even after 2 days in a row, he was pretty grateful when I told him I'd ovulated and we didn't have to do it a third day. We've been together nearly a decade now and we only have sex a few times a month normally anyway, so we didn't do anything different except it was a bit more strictly planned. I don't know if it really matters in terms of sperm quality, but we've gotten pregnant 3 times now doing it this way, 2nd cycle trying on two occasions and 1st cycle trying the other. I'm about to turn 37, so no spring chicken, but that worked well for us.

Mrstobe90 · 16/08/2017 14:32

I personally did it every day in my fertile period and then twice the day before ovulation and it worked for us :)

peachgreen · 16/08/2017 15:54

Pretty much once every other day all month (but this was mostly just because we wanted to, so we weren't strict about it), then every day in the 5 day run up to ovulation plus 2 days after my LH surge.

if we really didn't want to, we didn't. Even after about 2 years of trying (with a MMC in the middle) I never wanted sex to feel like a chore.

Naturally the months we conceived were the ones where this routine was interrupted for one reason or another. This time around we were on holiday, missed a couple of days around ovulation AND I didn't track my LH for once! Typical.

thingymaboob · 16/08/2017 16:59

We did it every other day over fertile period for months with no luck. Then we had sex everyday (10 times in total) from the end of my period for 8 days and I'm now 19 weeks.
