Is there a names site you can key in the meaning & it'll give you the name?

I've found loads of name sites but it's all the other way round. When I was pg with DD we were convinced she was a boy & had one name we both loved from day 1 & never even thought of another. Found out at 22 weeks she was girl & struggled till after she was born to come up with a name we really liked. If this one is a boy we might still use our original name but I might like to think of something different & if it is a girl we'll be snookered again. Last time she nearly got named after next door's dog - I kid you not!

why not jsut googling a name meaning... I jsut tried that with my children's names, and got 3 out of the 4 of them on the first results page of each search!

Thanks Kelly I'll try that, I found a Hopi Indian name that meant elder sister & I though it'd be nice to try to find one meaning younger sister or brother.

Behind The Name has a facility for this.

Agree that behind the name is good and its meaning search very useful (although it may help to go to Advanced Search, put in a cluster of related words and make it an OR search, e.g. "wood tree forest" rather than "forest" IYSWIM). Some of the other sites are ... imaginative ... in the meanings they allocate to names.
