just carnt wait two weeks to find out and if she not grown what happens?? anyone else had same problem?

I really don't know trace2 - I'm sorry - but didn't want you to think you were being ignored!

Sorry, this must be really worrying for you.

lulumama · 29/03/2007 20:21

hello
what a time you are having

not had experience of this, but i guess if you are anxious you could request an earlier scan and maybe an appointment with the obs to discuss further..

sorry to not be more help x

keeping this bumped for you....
Fwiw, I know a few people who have measured small for dates on fundus measurements, & had totally normal wieght babies and from what I understand the fundal measurement isn't accurate at all - sounds like the scans are probably more useful for you
Sorry not to be more helpful

lulumama · 29/03/2007 20:32

trace- you getting an antenatal support, anyone you can talk to and just get this worry shared?

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 29/03/2007 20:59

Hi trace, I can't really offer any advice, but I had an appt with my mw last week and was told that any measurement within 3 weeks of your actual date was considered normal. It's easy to say, but I hope you can get some rest and not worry too much. We are all thinking of you on the June thread x

Daisybump · 29/03/2007 21:00

Hi trace...don't have any advice, just wanted to send you some virtual hugs.....could you go private and get scanned earlier? Wish I could give you some answers...

sputnik · 29/03/2007 21:10

Hi Trace2, don't have any personal experience of this, but Seansgirl, who is also on the June thread, was told the same thing, then a month later was told it was back to normal, I think they have growth spurts in the womb too. It's good that they are monitoring you. Take care, and if you feel like a moan, or a laugh, come and join us on the june thread

familygirl · 29/03/2007 21:12

Not sure if this helps, but anyway...I am 28 weeks, nothing detected in terms of placenta or cord vessels, but various m/w have measured me as small. Quite a few variances, but general concensus was that this one's small (about size for 23-24 wks?) and scan confirmed it's on 9th centile, about average size of 24wk baby. They will scan again at 32 weeks to check it's growing (as that's obviously more worrying than just being small). It is hard, but seems to be that waiting is about all we can do-I'm trying not think the worst or be too concerned until I'm told otherwise. Do you have other children? If so, how big were they?

trace2 · 30/03/2007 08:32

thank you from june thread, its nice to have your surport just didnt want to put more bad news on there, thats all i sean to do when i go on!

familygirl so sorry you going through same, and yes they give you about two weeks each way normaly but its the two vesel cord whats worrying then it can stop them feeding! and yes i have 3 other children my dd was 8 7 and my 2 other ds was both 6 13. and i think what spooked me is my consulant looked at what the baby should weigh when born at 28 weeks! and they told me to make sure babys moving if i dont feel anything for a few hours to go up to hospital. if you want to chat about any thing please contact me.

Hi Trace,

The important thing is that you're being monitored. I've got high risk of placenta disfunction so I'm being scanned regularly too - just had my 29 week scan and baby is 'small to medium' - but they want to induce at 38 weeks because the likelihood is the placenta won't be working so well by then. It is worrying, but my doc said the important thing is to be checked regularly. He also said if you stop feeling movement or have any worries, go straight to labour ward (ie don't call midwife). Hope this helps - it's all really worrying, but as other people have said, babies grow at different rates - lots of people have bumps bigger than their dates, so a bit smaller is unlikely to be a huge problem - just try to keep calm and relax a lot...

lou031205 · 30/03/2007 11:17

hi trace2, it is probably the two vessels thing that has got them spooked.

I was measuring 23 at 25 weeks; 25 at 28 weeks; 27 at 31 weeks; 30 at 36weeks & finally insisted on a scan at 39 weeks when only measuring 33.

They said baby was SGA, and only on 9th centile. Estimated 6lbs. Induced me day before due.

She was 7lbs 1oz, born on her due date. That put her just under 25th centile - normal.

Try not to worry. Sometimes (as Millie did) babies start to engage early, so i think that drops fundal height.

Trace2

This happened to me. It turned out not so good as my dd was suffering IUGR (growth restriction).

I certainly don't wish to panic you as I have heard of other people going through this only to deliver healthy weight baby. In my case that was not so and if it were not for the vigilence of my community midwives, who constantly referred me back to hospital, I do not think my dd would be here now (she was actually loosing weight over the last few weeks).

Have you felt a reduction in movements? I did.

I had to go and have traces and doppler scans every 1-2 days to monitor baby. It certainly kept me reasurred. I would advice you push for this (even if not so frequent)in addition to fortnightly sizing scans (I also had to have these. Hospital would only make judgement on size of baby at two weekly intervals)

I wrote more about my dd on the viability and Bleeding thread yesterday. Again, I don't wish to panic you but after my experiences I would advise anyone in similar situation to get it checked out. best case scenerio you get some peace of mind, worst case decisions can be taken to deliver your baby early. All the best x
