Accidental sex hint at scan?

Just had anomaly scan and all is well. Opted not to find out sex so she said she would tell us when to look away from screen. Second baby so we know the drill.

Anyway she never told us to look away but at the end said she had checked the sex. So now I'm convincing myself it's a boy because she must have been able to see a penis really quickly or is it as easy to see no penis and know it's a girl?

We really don't care either way but now slightly wishing we'd just found out as I now think it must be a boy

I don't think she hinted at all.

MoonfaceAndSilky · 14/08/2017 13:52

I don't see how you can think it's a boy from that Grin

ADuckNamedSplash · 14/08/2017 13:54

I think you're reading too much into it. We asked to find out the sex, the sonographer went to look and said immediately, "Oh, that's a girl - it's text book!"

Numbsnet · 14/08/2017 13:55

I'd guess more likely a girl as she didn't have to hide anything from you.
We didn't want to find out either and a scanner (don't know her actual name but it was a mobile machine around 38 weeks and not a big scan) looked at it and said "I can see a...... Oh did you find out what you are having?"
I could only deduce that she saw a penis. There was no other explanation and I was right. She did ruin the surprise.

Thanks all, good to know! 3 more scans to avoid accidental information!

During our scan the sonographer said "there's the vaginal opening" so guessed dc2 was a girl.

Bluntness100 · 14/08/2017 14:01

Actually I'd have assumed it was a girl, because no visible penis for you to look away. I think no hint though, it could be either, she didn't tell you to look away because you couldn't see.

ohnowhatcanido · 14/08/2017 14:06

Yes I would guess girl too! We had a private gender scan but the moment she started looking in the right place it was obvious even to me that it was a boy!!!

BringMeTea123 · 14/08/2017 17:03

I don't think she has let slip at all.

We didn't want to know the sex of our baby either. We went for a 4D scan around 25 weeks. Even though you fill out a form to say you don't know and don't want to know. We always referred to bump as him (rather than it - and suspected boy even though we didn't find out) anyway we were saying aww look at him etc and she said, I'll confirm the gender in a moment, to which we said oh we don't want to know. She looked a bit sheepish and I said to her do you know? Can you tell and she said yes but I won't say anymore. So to me she had confirmed it was a boy. Sure enough October when he was born he is most definitely boy lol x

See I agree with you and this is what happened at my scans. Especially the second one. We never had to turn our heads as she passed on the area quickly but at the end when I said ' do
You know?' She said ' yes I do'. From that I assumed that it was a boy as she went over the area so quickly it had to stand out for her to be sure. I was convinced I was having a boy as a result of this and... I had a boy!

INeedNewShoes · 14/08/2017 18:45

The sonographer said during my 20-week scan 'oh he's wriggling away'. From that point onwards I was convinced and told everyone I was having a boy. I was absolutely astounded when my baby girl appeared!
