34 weeks- period type pains

Last night before bed I was restless and kept getting a scratching feeling on my cervix which was very uncomfortable. Baby was moving a lot.
Then I woke around 2.30am with strong period type cramps. They would come and last for a good few mins and then go again. Are these just stronger Braxton Hicks?
I've had lots of BH recently but apart from being tight there is never any pain.

I woke this morning and feel ok.
I never had any of this with DD1 and was induced at 42 weeks so its unfamiliar to me.

Had anyone experienced similar?

How long did the pains go on for and did painkillers help? Any bleeding/fluid loss from down below? Baby's movements normal? See how you go this morning but any concerns at all ring your maternity unit and they'll most likely want to check you over just to make sure everything's as it should beSmile

Thanks, it went on for over an hour and then I eventually fell asleep again.
Baby is moving fine as normal, and no fluid loss or bleeding.

Yeh I get this a lot. Think is just everything stretching and getting ready for labour.

Pleased it appears to be normal. I was just surprised it was painful this early on.

The scratching feeling was very strange but had read it may be baby's head trying to engage?

I have another midwife appt this Thursday coming up so I'll ask her about it as well.

I haven't had a scratching feeling but have had a tickly feeling. I knew baby was head down anyway, but this felt like I was being tickled by fingers around my cervix. A scan this week confirmed baby has one had up above his forehead so it probably is his fingers prodding/tickling me. Grin

He is a strange little chap!

I wish this was a tickling feeling, mine feels more like clawing his way out! Grin
