Movements for DC2 if you're plus size?

I'm a size 18, and am 18 weeks pregnant with dc2.

When I was pregnant with DS I started to feel flutters around now and knew by 20 weeks it was definitely him. I also had the placenta at the front of the belly which reduced how much I could feel. I'm not sure where the placenta is this time.

I was under the impression that next babies are felt earlier. I'm not really feeling anything still. In the last week I've felt a handful of things but couldn't say for sure they were baby.

So now I'm worrying that something has gone wrong and I'll find out at the 20 week scan :( I don't have any other symptoms either.

Anybody else not feel moment earlier the second time round?

Thanks for replying. Hopefully it's just the placenta is in the same place this time and maybe this baby is smaller? DS was very big when he was born 11lb7oz, so maybe this baby is 'normal' sized so that's affecting it too? Roll on 20 week scan so I can stop worrying for a bit.

Congrats on twins! Amazing.

I'm the same as you 19 weeks and very overweight! Just had my anomaly scan yesterday and little DS is wriggling and moving im just not feeling it much yet! If you are worried speak to your midwife but it's completely normal to not feel much at this stage!!

I'm 15w3d and people keep asking me if I can feel anything yet because it's meant to be sooner, obviously I haven't and I've been worrying!!

I also have a high bmi, last pregnancy I didn't so not sure wether to expect it even later?

Gothbaby · 12/08/2017 12:48

My mate had a high bmi and felt her only at at 23 weeks. (Not anterior !) I think each pregnancy is different anyhow so try not to worry too much! X

Hi, congratulations! I am currently 27 weeks with DC2 and also a size 18. With DC1 I remember feeling the baby move the day before my 20 week scan. It was definitely later this time round, probably nearer 22 weeks before I had definite flutters. I am a bit heavier in this pregnancy so I put it down to that. Hopefully you're 20 week scan gives you reassurance but if you are worried in the meantime I'd speak to your midwife and they can listen for a heartbeat to save you any worrying xx

Thanks for the reassurance all.
I have my scan in 9 days so that should give me more reassurance, and then hopefully soon after I will start feeling movements that are definitely baby.

@GlitteryFluff bit late but I'm 20 weeks with DC4, only been feeling movement over the past 2 weeks. Anterior placenta too. X

With my 5, it varied a lot when I felt the first movements- between 18 weeks and 24 weeks. Not necessarily earlier with the later pregnancies either.
