Orange blood?

Hello! I am nearly 5 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I have been having mild-moderate AF-style cramping since O. (Sometimes it's worse than others, like something is trying to come out). Yesterday I saw the smallest amount of light pink goo on the toilet paper. It went away immediately but a few hours later when I went to the bathroom I found some tiny orangey blood stains. Same thing happened again today. All the books/websites I have read say that both cramping and spotting/bleeding are completely normal but they also say not to worry about spotting/bleeding UNLESS you also have cramps, in which case you have to see your doctor asap. There is so much contradictory advice that I really don't know what to think. My first scan isn't until Week 11. Should I be worried? I live in a non English speaking country where even getting an appointment with a GP is a huge challenge so I don't want to make a fuss unnecessarily.

The embryo dies 'invade' the uterus wall, at 5 weeks it's probably implantation bleeding, light pinkish stains. I had cramping too, kept thinking my period was coming - so it sounds familiar to me - good luck with your pregnancy

Thanks. I thought egg implantation would have to have happened a while ago for me to get a positive HPT at 3 weeks 4 days. Unless it's placenta implantation? I don't know! I've read so many different things I should be an expert by now but instead I'm just more confused and worried.

5 weeks is too early for a scan. I had implantation bleeding at 6-7 weeks. Now 18/40. Unfortunately you just have to wait it out. Good luck.

No at the beginning of the oregnscy when egg meets sperm it's higher up in the Fallopian tubes and whilst it's dividing, blastocyst stage it's slowly tumbling towards the uterus before implanting. The placenta takes a while to form to be honest so it won't really be forming for a while, when it does the vili start invasion into the wall of the uterus too so you'll often feel a bit of cramping or discomfort for that reason plus your ligaments start moving and uterus grows (500x bigger) so try not to worry too much about little mild niggles and always talk through worries etc with your midwife, they're there to help you through and help to explain some of the changes happening to your body

See this is what I'm so confused about. If it is implantation bleeding, that means it has taken 3 whole weeks to implant. Is that even possible?

5 weeks isn't too early for a scan. I had this and phoned my local early pregnancy unit at the hospital the brought me in for a scan. I was 5+2 wverythig looked okay at the scan but told me to monitor the bleeding ECT. I did and my pregnancy ended up in a mc. I had the same thing with this pregnancy and again I phone my local epu asked to go in for a scan. I was 5+3 and again everything looked okay was told to monitor ECT. Thankfully I am now 39+5 with this pregnancy.

But I was advised to call the local epu until 11+6 weeks if you have any concerns at all. Google isn't a substitute for a medical professional. If i were you I'd be making sure and phoning the hospital to let them know whats what's going on. Could be nothing but best to get checked.

The implantation bleeding doesn't just come from the initial implantation but also from the formation and movement of the placenta. You can also get bleeding from your cervix if it is irritated.

Whilst everything is best checked it is not necessarily bad news.

Nainer - I'm sorry to hear about your MC but happy that your current pregnancy is progressing well. With your MC, did it happen just like I described? My 'spotting' is so small I don't think most people would have even noticed it.

Brenna - that's what I understood too but kept being told different things.

It is scary. I had bleeding between weeks 7 and 8 in my first pregnancy. Scanned the first day and the last day of it and baby alive and well and growing in each case. I then had more at 10 weeks - literally just a spot. I nearly didn't go in, but did and it turned out the baby had died the day after the last scan. I had had 2 weeks with no bleeding when something was wrong and a week of bleeding when all was ok. I then didn't bleed again until 11 weeks and 3 days, when i had a day of bad cramping - worse than a period and in my back and rectum, and only started bleeding for the miscarriage at about 11pm that night.

Then the next two pregnancies I had lots of bad cramping again, also much worse than a period, before the bleeding started.

This pregnancy I had bleeding from week 6 to 7 for 9 days. Baby was scanned at 6 weeks - all well, 9 weeks - all well, 12 weeks 4 days - all well, I am nearly 14 weeks now and no more bleeding since that early episode. So for me anyway the bleeding is unrelated to how the pregnancy is progressing and seems to come from my cervix. But I always go in and get it checked.

Hugs. I hope all is well. It is such a worrying time and seeing any blood is horrendous.

With implantation bleeding, not all blood will cone out straight away. Also, it could be cervix being irritated. Have you had sex? There are many causes of bleeding, one of which is miscarriage. I've bled in both pregnancies. One was a miscarriage, now I'm 18 weeks and she looks really healthy!

flumpybear · 14/08/2017 07:48

I had massive bleeding at 12 weeks, clots and all - lasted 6 ish weeks getting darker brown to black (old blood) - baby is fine, she's 8 now 😇😍

Nainer123 · 14/08/2017 13:37

At first it was orangey pink and was small. But it got heavier. So if yours hasn't gotten heavier then I'd say just keep an eye on it and I'm sure it'll be okay. Also maybe tin but sex caused bleeding in my current pregnancy early on! I didn't realise at first but it happened every time after So maybe keep an eye and see if there is anything you're doing or happening when the bleeding happens.
