Ow! What's this weird uncomfortable feeling I'm getting?

I know it's probably too much to hope that it's an early sign of labour, lol!

But since about ten o'clock this morning, I've felt like the baby's head is pressing really hard, down on my bum. Sorry if tmi but it feels a bit like you feel when you really need a poo.

I was going to walk the dogs but the discomfort becomes pain whenever I stand up.

Is this just some other very late pregnancy inconvenience that I have to put up with now? Or is it - hoping beyond hope - a sign that things are very near the end?

(I am 40+2 wks btw)

i would say it sounds like a VERY good sign! i reckon your baby is about to pop out, if it hasn't already since you posted! (how nice would that be?!)
good luck!

PelvicfloornomoreChocolate · 29/03/2007 11:10

Ooh Mossie i'm no midwife but it could well be a sign.
For your sake being 40+2wks i really hope so
You can come and join us on the learning to drive thread then

Mossie · 29/03/2007 11:11

Oh please let it be a sign!

Yes as you say then it will be back to the driving lessons [scared but determined emoticon]!

Right it's subsided a bit. I'm going to take the dogs around the block for five minutes, it's better than nothing, otherwise I'll feel really guilty!

Oooo - exciting! Good luck Mossie.

AitchTwoOh · 29/03/2007 11:22

bum pressing is a major sign, mossie, how exciting for you. here's hoping it's today...

Mossie · 29/03/2007 11:49

Well I managed to walk them for about fifteen minutes or thereabouts. But it does still feel like a baby wants to drop out of my bum!

I think I'll have some dinner and then tidy up. Maybe a sleep is in order before I have to see the mw?

LilRedWG · 29/03/2007 11:50

Get as much rest as you can. Is the midwife coming to you?

PavlovtheCat · 29/03/2007 11:51

Do you 'need' to tidy up? LO, good luck, hope you are almost there

Mossie · 29/03/2007 11:53

No, I'm going to her, it's just a normal appointment, you know to check my blood pressure and all that. But because I'm overdue now they're going to refer me to the hospital for an internal. I'd love it if I "popped" before that appointment!

Mossie · 29/03/2007 11:53

No, 'fraid it isn't nesting, just a normal daily tidy! Place is a tip. I don't even have a kid yet so no excuse, just laziness!

Maazaa · 29/03/2007 12:10

Good luck Mossie! My waters broke before the contractions started, but when labour kicked in properly, it was all centred around my bum! Fingers crossed!

lulumama · 29/03/2007 12:15

mossie..started a thread for you yesterday, as i have lost your email addy , please can you email me

lulumama 21 @ hotmail. com

cos i need to know when LO arrives !!

sounds like baby is moving down and engaging, ready for the off !!

Mossie · 29/03/2007 12:24

Sorry Lulumama I didn't see your thread yesterday, I've emailed you just now!

Maazaa I hope this is something... don't want to end up being induced. However, I sense I've still a little while to wait... no show or anything yet anyway.

thanks babe !! 40 + 2 is nothing ! chill, enjoy the last few baby free, tidy days, when you can lie down when you want !

AitchTwoOh · 29/03/2007 13:01

hang on, you're 40 + 2? i thought you were 42 weeks... pfffft. plenty of time yet for more nesting.

Mossie · 29/03/2007 13:07

Dh has been waiting for me to "nest" for weeks now. It certainly hasn't happened so far.

Although I did give my ipod a good spring clean and delete loads of tunes I rarely listen to and replace with some newer ones.

Does that count?

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 29/03/2007 13:09

definitely.

Hopeitwontbebig · 29/03/2007 13:40

That's exactly the feeling I had just before I gave birth to my DS1!!! Felt like I needed to do a huge poo TMI!!

Mossie · 29/03/2007 13:43

Well, the feeling has subsided a little now.

Don't know whether to be glad, 'cos it was getting a bit more than just "uncomfortable", or disappointed, as it means nothing's happening.

Probably disappointed.

Still, off to see the mw in 40 mins... we'll see what she says.

OP posts:
Mossie · 29/03/2007 16:30

The midwife reckons it could be my cervix effacing... if so that's good news!

OP posts:
PurpleLostPrincess · 30/03/2007 10:28

How are you Mossie?

Mossie · 30/03/2007 11:25

Unfortunately... I am absolutely fine, nothing happening today! I reckon I should start mainlining raspberry leaf tea and borage oil!

Thanks for asking!

Send some labour vibes this way! Dh keeps calling me from work asking if I've had any signs yet... bless him I don't think he realises he would be the first to know if I did!
