Hi I am new to the site and unsure I am even posting in the correct place, but fingers crossed I am.
I'm just looking for a little advice and experiences anyone may have had similar to mine.
I had my 6 weeks 5 days scan last week and it showed a sac, and a heartbeat and another foetal pole but no heartbeat yet, I have to go back in 2 weeks to find out if it's progressed into twins and I was wondering if there was anyone that had experienced anything similar at all? Looking forward to meeting lots of other mums te be and mums.

Hi OP. I had a similar situation! Went for an early scan after experiencing some bleeding (and was very worried due to previous MC), first scan at 5+4 showed one sac with a yolk sac and another dark blob which they noted as "potential second sac" or "build up of fluid"

Scan a week later showed one sac with a foetal pole and heartbeat and the other sac now contained a yolk sac (at this point we had a week of shock/uncertainty - constantly asking each other "could it be twins?? Is this happening??" so I can understand how you must be feeling now!

3rd scan a week after that (so 7+4) showed two sacs with one foetal pole in each, heartbeats flickering away Smile Smile

I'm now nearly 19 weeks with DCDA twins Grin

Good luck OP and congratulations on your pregnancy!

Hi Mamma Bear 4
Thank you for sharing your story with me, that does sound positive. I know it could go either way but your story gives me hope.
The waiting is horrible! Although I have lots of distractions and a festival This weekend although my daily nausea/fatigue is becoming a problem!
My scan is Friday next week and I will be 8w 5d
Congratulations that's amazing! I'm so happy for you can u tell me what DCDA means? I know there is vareouse thpes of twins like mo mo etc but it sure what that means? X

Eeeek I'm now panicking... I had a scan at 6 weeks which had one baby with heartbeat, and there was a second empty sac which they suggested had started as a twin but was no more. Maybe because it was empty at 6 weeks then that's the case but I am slightly nervous that when I got for my 12 week scan next week there'll be two babies in there!

Princezz · 09/08/2017 10:38

I would say it's possible boopdoop, if there is another sac I have read stories of ladies having had disappearing twin syndrome an it get absorbed by the other baby, but then some carry on developing into twins and sometime the other twin can be like 9 days behind the other twin!
So u never know! What day is you scan? X

My scan is next Tuesday morning.... little nervous anyway as had previous mc, so have this to be nervous about too! It would be amazing to have twins, but.... ekkkk. Will let you know next week!

Neonrainbow · 09/08/2017 10:52

Congratulations twins are amazing! I found out about mine at 9 weeks and they're now nearly 8 months old. They're starting to interact and its so cute.

Sheena88 · 09/08/2017 11:07

Hi princezz and boopdoop I'm kind of in the same boat at the min. I went for scan @ 9 weeks and MW said she couldn't rule out twins and to come back in 3 weeks for a 'better look'. Not the same but the same horrible wait your having lol. I know how you feel it's been a longggg 3 weeks but my scan is tomorrow! Hope you ladies are well and morning sickness isn't taking over 🙈 X

Princezz · 09/08/2017 11:22

Yes looking forward to hearing how it goes boopdoop.

Awe that's fab neon rainbow! I'm concerned tho if it is twins about the extra complications and risk factor I have heard is a lot higher? How was your pregnancy?

Hi Sheena88 3 weeks yuk! But I know that twins are missed a lot of the time so I'm guessing that by 12 weeks the MW will be able to confidently tell you either way. I'm looking forward to hero g the outcome don't forget in 3 weeks to let me know how u get on please! Hope your morning sickness etc isn't too bad x xx

I sure will it's 1.30 tomorrow and I shall let yous know either way ☺️ I haven't been sick really just super tired. I have myself convinced now because I'm showing although this is baby number 3 so I would be showing earlier anyway. But I'm far from skinny and to have an obvious bump already lol 🤔 Do yous have twins in your families? I don't! I've told a few family members and they literally just laughed....very comforting haha 🙈

Princezz · 09/08/2017 21:58

Sheena88 I'm looking forward to hearing from you tomorrow! No I don't have twins in my family but u don't need to have twins in hut family to have twins, if you have identicle twins that is due to complete chance and for some reason the egg splits when that happens is complete luck. Fraternal twins does run in the family I think.
I have had IVF although only had 1 egg transferred but I think with IVF there is a 14% higher chance of 1 egg splitting into twins.
Good luck for tomorrow! Xx

My pregnancy was fine right up to going into labour at 31 weeks! They spent a few weeks in NICU due to their prematurity but after they came home they are doing great. there's a higher chance of prem birth with twins so id be prepared for that.

Sheena88 · 10/08/2017 14:36

Just the one wee bambino for me lol 😁 Delighted she said it was really active, it was moving around like mad 😁 Pics look like it's waving lol.

boopdoop · 15/08/2017 13:02

Had my 12 week scan this morning and just one in there for me too. Little bit sad as I'd have liked it have 3 kids, and I'll be 49 when this one is born so probably too late to have another. But also kind of relieved as twins would be hard work and financially tough.

boopdoop · 15/08/2017 13:02
