Constant Runny / Blocked Nose

Hello

I'm 7+4 so early days. Since before I did my pregnancy test I've had a really runny nose & at night, completely blocked. It's driving me round the bend!
It's not a cold as been far too long as hay fever has been ruled out as we've had rain most days for the past week.
Anybody else had this whilst being pregnant?
Thank you Smile

Hi honeyb

This is probably not totally related to your question, however I'm currently waiting for AF to arrive after my partner and I have been TTC for a couple of months.
Last night/this morning i have come down with the worst snotty nose and sore throat and I wondered if this could be an early pregnancy symptom.
It's too early for me yet to take a pregnancy test, wish there was a way to know either way! Argh.
When did your runny nose start?

honeyb6783 · 07/08/2017 13:17

Hey!

I would say this started just before my missed period, so very early on.
I haven't had any cold like symptoms like the sore throats you mentioned, just a very runny & blocked nose.
I have read that rhinitis is very common in pregnant with people that have an overactive immune system (which I have)
However, the thought of this for my entire pregnancy is an awful thought lol x

Thanks for your reply Honeyb

The sore throat seems to have subsided now, however my nose is literally dripping, it's like water running out of a tap!
Feel generally lousy too.

Keeping my fingers firmly crossed!
I hope the rest of your pregnancy is a little kinder to you! x

I'm almost 38 weeks now and have had a blocked nose for my entire pregnancy. It's especially bad when I wake up in the morning but just doesn't seem to clear up. I have no other symptoms and feel absolutely fine. Apparently it can be normal? I hope you start to feel better soon!

Thecaravan · 07/08/2017 13:36

I'm the same as magicdoll. Am currently 31 weeks and have had a stuffy nose all the way through. Fortunately it's been pretty much my only symptom so can't complain as compared to many others, it's nothing!

honeyb6783 · 07/08/2017 13:42

Good luck & fingers crossed Jenny!! X

Thank you Magicdoll & Thecaravan, seems I might be following in your symptoms! No others as yet so let's hope it's just this.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancies xx

It is a pregnancy symptom and I always get it. It goes when you give birth though, despite being annoying for nine months!

honeyb6783 · 07/08/2017 13:49

Thanks Fuzzyowl x

One of my first symptoms was a blocked up nose and sneezing.

anniroc · 07/08/2017 13:53

I had this with my second pregnancy. I used nose strips to help me breathe at night and the odd paracetamol tablet. So glamorous!

peachgreen · 07/08/2017 13:56

I must sneeze about a dozen times a day at the moment, it's crazy!

dangle90 · 07/08/2017 14:20

I'm 18 weeks pregnant and had a blocked/runny nose/constant sneezing all the way through so far, much like others have said it's the only thing I have had though so can't grumble too much!

I had insane allergies for the first and last time with my last pregnancy. It's like my whole body thought pollen was attacking the baby! Maybe try a pregnancy-safe anti-histamine? That would at least rule out allergies if it doesn't get any better.
