Living with a smoker

Hi,

I am moving back in with my mum when I have my baby as my husband will be away.
Unfortunately my mum's partner smokes and he smokes in their bathroom on the top floor of the house (the house is on three floors). My and baby's room will be on the second floor of the house.
Will this affect my baby?
Thank you

It's not ideal, but your midwife and/or health visitor will have advised countless people in your situation before, so I'd speak to them and just see what they say. It doesn't sound like he's going to be puffing away while you're all sitting eating dinner or anything, but I'm sure there will be guidance around keeping smoke fumes on clothing away from tiny babies, etc.

Is there any chance of your mum coming to stay with you instead? Would partner consider smoking outside? Difficult to raise it with them I know.

Unfortunately not as we live in different parts of the country and she will still be working 😢

I have asked but he doesn't seem to like the idea.

its not ideal but it shouldn't be too much of a problem if smoking is either kept outside or to specific rooms! xxx
