Hospital bag: packing & re packing!

Just re packing my hospital bag..... just incase...... realistically how many packets of maternity pads do you think I need to pack? First time Mum.....

Any other essentials that I may we'll have missed?

One pack of pads. Your partner /support person can nip out and get more if you are in for days.

Don't forget a fold up changing mat and a towel (dark coloured if poss). Earplugs /eye mask also useful!

1 pack should do, as pp said you can get someone to bring more in and they have loads in postnatal wards anyway so you wont go without.

Straws, so you haven't got sit up or move to much to have a drink, plus your birthing partner can hold the drink.

Hand cream & lip balm. It's very hot & dry in the hospital & you'll be doing lots more hand washing with all the nappy changes.

A handheld fan was a last minute addition to my bag and was a godsend stuck in an airless delivery suite on a boiling hot day.
