Hair dye / highlights

I have heard conflicting advice.
I want to have my hair highlighted, as I do every 8 weeks or so. It's in foil packets... is this ok? I'm 17 weeks pregnant. My SIL was told no hair dye / highlights by her midwife. Other people have said it's ok? Google is confusing...

I've had mine done every 6 weeks throughout my pregnancy, I was told it was fine by midwife & my hairdresser (who is my cousin & also pregnant) xxx

I just had mine done recently at 16 weeks pregnant. My hairdresser said as I get foils the dye doesn't contact my skin so it is safe. I still waited til after 12 weeks as im a worrier thou.

Bobbiepin · 06/08/2017 10:18

I waited until after 1st trimester but everyone has told me its fine.

TheMasterNotMargarita · 06/08/2017 10:21

Its fine.

I always waited until after 12 weeks, but got them done after that.

Foils are fine. I got mine bleached (painted on and contact with scalp) and was fine. The issue is that the colour may take differently due to hormones. That's what I was told...

Urglewurgle · 06/08/2017 12:27

I think the 'worry' is more about the fumes than the colour being on your skin.
I do my own at home and did wait until u was 12 weeks (not really sure why...) and just make sure the room is well ventilated.

FamaLamaDingDong · 06/08/2017 12:44

What fumes? Hairdressers don't stop wor until they're 12 weeks or birth...

I did highlights several times in my 1st pregnancy and now also during my 2nd. All fine, and have seen plenty other pregnant ladies at the hair salons 😊
I do believe that your hormones might react and therefore the color might come out differently, seems pretty logic to me, but thats all.
