Tight numb skin-anyone had this?

Rather an odd one: the skin my outer thigh is numb and often tingly. Last night, I woke myself up as I turned onto my side and felt a red hot pain as I put my weight on the area.

There's no marking, redness etc. And this morning the area feels really quite tingly. I had a Google and didn't really like what I read (diabetes).

Has anyone else had this?

Mine is on my left leg I can't sleep on my left side because it's painful! I have no clue what it is but glad I'm not the only one Confused

Meralgia paresthetica is a condition characterized by tingling, numbness and burning pain in the outer part of your thigh. The condition is caused by compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, which supplies sensation to your upper leg..

Just found this on Google Hmm dont know how accurate this is but it sounds more probable than diabetes. Have you been having any back pain? I've had quite alot of back pain and sciatica type pains. I'm going to see my doctor Next week so hopefully we can both have peace of mind Grin

Funnily enough if you put "pregnancy" in with the other search words, Meralgia Paresthetica is what comes up. If you don't you get diabetes!

Not very nice, and I don't suppose something that will get better as gestation progresses...

Hannabee123, I wonder if the Dr will suggest any exercises or anything. Sorry to hear you've got it too but thank you for commenting. X

I had this too. Neither my midwife nor my consultant was worried about it, but you should mention it to someone to be on the safe side. For me it stopped in the third trimester, I hope it will for you too :-)

If you are having this aswell as sciatic pain I would contact your dr. I was in for sciatic pain and the dr told me to contact asap if I get thigh numbness etc and this can be serious. Don't want to worry you but that's what my dr told me.

Thank you both. I will mention it at my next appointment. Kicking myself for not having done it at the last...
