Hit to bump

Angry & worried about this: I was waiting to get on the tube, with plenty of room for people coming off, when a guy carrying a massive bag gets off and, adjusting it on his shoulder, whacks it right into my bump. It hurt, rather a lot (he noticed - didn't apologise). I'm both fuming at being treated like that and a bit worried about potential damage etc. I realise the latter might be irrational (I know they're cushioned) but it was a hefty bag, direct hit - I didn't fall but it was enough to feel slightly winded. It's probably spot on with placenta location too. I can't help but feel concerned about it...it will be ok right? I'm 29 weeks, bump is big.

Bastard. Angry

Selfish git.

Imagine an apricot in a water Balloon - the cushioning is immense. My medium size dog jumped up from the floor onto my bump really hard at about 25 weeks. All was fine. Keep An eye on movements and ask for another scan if you are concerned.

I fell really hard onto my bump a few weeks ago when I was about 32 weeks. Everything was fine but I did go in to have a trace as it was so painful. The midwife made it clear that they were only doing it for my peace of mind as the baby is so well protected in there

Babies are well cushioned. I fell on my bump!
Are you rhesus neg though? They may want to give you anti d.

Don't worry! With my ds I worked in care of the elderly and one of my patients kicked me in the belly just skimmed past but it hurt. He was grand and is now 9 lol they are really really well cushioned. Obvs I didn't work with that guy again till after the pregnancy. Scary tho

SeatOfMyPants · 04/08/2017 22:16

Thanks for the reassurances! I feel better now after feeling a few movements. Still think he was an arse. Sheena88 - wow, now that's a pretty tough thing to deal with. Glad everything worked out, but still scary.

If you are rhesus neg, they will want to give you an injection to be safe.

My second pregnancy, I was constantly opening cupboards onto my bump and the occasional kick to the stomach by my demon daughter during happy changes...

Always be checked out if you're worried though! They really don't mind.

I did the tube while pregnant, both times, it's crap.

But they are so well cushioned in there! But I would go for a check up with the midwife for your own peace of mind. Don't be afraid to pick up the phone, that's what they're there for.

I had someone's massive dog jump up and land his paws heavily on my bump at 30 something weeks because she couldn't control him and the other large dog she had. She didn't apologise either.

I phoned maternity triage and was advised to go home and put my feet up, take paracetamol and give them a ring if I was later worried about movement or bleeding.

Everything was fine though.
