Due today and feeling frustrated! Give me positive labour stories and tips!

So it's finally my due date today and... nothing. Had what felt like a contraction that woke me up Monday morning. Lost some mucus plug last week. Some cramps and upset stomach the last couple of days. But nothing to suggest labour is imminent Sad I know it's very normal to go overdue but I was just so excited to meet her and I feel like it's going to end up being an induction (10 days to wait if so!)

Has anyone got any tips to get it started? The idea of sex is SO not what I want to do right now - I feel uncomfortable and frumpy and pissed off at everything - but I guess I might have to. Might try a curry too.

Any positive labour stories where nothing seemed to be happening and then bam, baby on the way?! Please cheer me up!

I tried everything I walked 4 miles a day in the last few weeks, begrudgingly had sex, curries, pineapple, clary sage oil in my baths and still went 4 days over - however on day 4 I went to bed with no signs that anything was going to happen not so much as an ache - woke up at 4am with contractions, at the hospital at 5am at 5cm dilated and had the baby at 8.49am so was super quick when it happened x

I was due on Monday so we're in the same boat! So frustrating!!!xx

What I found really helped me and I'm convinced that's what set my labour off though is - counted the maximum days you're allowed to go over and just kept telling myself xxx date is the last day I'll ever be pregnant with this baby, it may not be out but I'll be in labour. Up until I'd changed my mind set I was stressing will today be the day and getting upset when it wasn't and focusing too hard on trying to start labour. Maybe a coincidence but I went to bed feeling much more relaxed than I had done in the run up xx

People have told me pineapple, spicy meal, lots of walking, maybe a bounce on the birthing ball, but sounds like things are happening anyway (early stages).

Have movements been ok?

All the best x

Thanks everyone!

Scaredycat2016 sorry to hear you're in the same boat, it's rubbish! But hopefully you're nearly there now, update us when it happens!!

ruthieruthuk I've done the spicy curry and yoga ball bouncing this evening, will report back with any results! Oh I'm really hoping things are happening, I hate the idea of going 2 weeks overdue. Movements been fine - pretty consistent and lots of wriggling when I lie down. Head's engaged too as of Monday x

With my first I had no signs whatsoever before labour started, I just woke in the middle of the night with contractions. DD1 was born 4 days after due date. With 2nd I had a curry (following the advice of a midwife who gave me a stretch and sweep that afternoon) the bloody thing repeated on me all through labour...... Avoid the curry...

MotherofKitties · 02/08/2017 23:59

Currently 3 days over, had a sweep at 40+1 which has got me to 2cm dilated and I had 6+hrs of regular contractions immediately afterwards which then stopped! Still no labour or baby and booked in for an induction on the 10th.

I'm trying to keep positive and hope I spontaneously go into labour (doing all the walking, bouncing, pineapple, curries and sex I can...) but no signs so far...Very very frustrating so I feel your pain...! Xx
