Anyone out there with teenagers expecting again???

hi there, I'm 38 & have twin boys who are nearly 17yrs and am 26 weeks pregnant!! Me and dh had just about given up after nearly 6yrs of trying for our first child. The usual case of putting everything to the back of your mind and "hey presto" im pregnant (shock)!
The boys are taking it all in there stride and are very pleased. We have found out that we are expecting a girl . God help her with two older brothers acting as body guards!!

Congratulations!

My DS is nearly 13 (looks about 15 though) and I'm about 14 weeks. I also have a DD aged 8. They are both really looking forward to this baby (who will technically be their step brother/sister but they just see it as a new brother/sister). I had DS very young but I'm becoming more and more aware of the gap!

Do you mind if I ask how you've coped with two teenage boys!!?? Are you on the better side of things now they are 17? My son is a good kid but we've definitely hit the teenage stretch with a bang! His mood swings are almost worse than my pregnancy hormones!!!

I have ds (20), dd1 (17) and dd2 (5). dd2 worships her older brother and sister and it has brought tears to my eyes more than once to see how lovely it is when they interacting with each other. The older ones have a lot of patience with her and have been a real help throughout her life - bathing, feeding, reading stories, taking to school etc. They even used to change nappies (a bit reluctantly )

My DS1 and DS2 were 17 and 16 when DS5 was born. They have always adored him and have been a real help right from when he was tiny.

PurpleLostPrincess - it won't be a step brother or sister. That term means a child related only by marriage (or similar) not by blood. I have a stepdaughter, but she is technically my other two children's half-sister, though we'd never use that term.

Oh, and she was ten when my ds was born and 13 when dd was born. She is very sweet with dd, though like most teenagers, is mostly interested in her social life!

You're right Aloha, thank you! As far as they are concerned, they are getting a new brother or sister which is lovely. As you've said, we wouldn't ever refer to it as that though - only difference is they have a different Dad but they see my DH as a Dad anyway...

Congratulations! My mam had two babies in her twenties, then my other sister when she was 42. I was 17, my sister 16, at the time. I got married the next year and had DD, so there is only a year between them. I adore my little sister and treat her as one of my own!

My oldest 2 were 15 and 13 when DS3 was born and it's been fantastic - they have a great relationship, and I think having younger ones (DS2 is 8, DS3 now 4) around has diluted some of the teenage problems. The only downside is that DS1 (now 19) left for university this year and my youngest two have missed him terribly - it sounds a bit ridiculous, but it's been almost like a bereavement for DS3.
Congratulations - it sounds like a lovely family .

congratulations i have a 22yr old, 19yr old and 14yr old, and i thought that was it, but, i got married again and also have a 3yr old and 7 month old. it's lots of fun but makes for a noisy house! (oh yes, i also have a 5 month old grandson!)

thanks for all the reasurance! Teenage hormones definately seem to have settled so im hoping for peace, tranquility , happy days and lots of help

My DS1 and DS2 were 18 and 15 when DS3 was born, they adore him. DS3 is now 8months old, we are trying for another asap. I feel DS3 will be like an only child, when he is 5 his brothers will be 23 and 20, i would love a little girl this time.
My boys were all born by C-Section, so this will be my last baby. I am 34 and DH is 25 (i am divored from DS1 and DS2 dad) DS3 was planned and i get really annoyed when people ask was he an accident, just because of the age gap.

Only experience is that I was a 'late surprise' myself! 16 years between me and the next sibling. My mum had me at 42 which was pretty much unheard of in the late 70s.

I loved it and I know my siblings and parents did too. I have a wonderful relationship with them and my parents love it as I am expecting my first child and my nieces are all in their teens! Let another round of babies commence....

I'm very new to all this 'web chat', excuse me if I'm using the wrong jargon!

I'm 35 with two teenage girls - 15 & 14, plus my wee dote of a boy who was just 5 last week.

I'm expecting twins, due in August. A shock but we're so delighted! (18 weeks at the mo)

I'm keen to hear from mums with Twins, as no doubt I'm concerned, especially as the 'birth plan' is currently being discussed at appts. All my births were natural, and it scares me that c-section is more common in twin births. So any advice or stories- most appreciated!!
